I awoke with both a sore right knee and an even sorer left thumb. My knee was swelled up and I had difficulty walking. I have no idea why they are both as sore as they are as I cannot remember doing anything to either of them. I hurt enough to stay in bed even though the alarm had gone off and it was almost 9:00 am before I finally crawled out.
The walk around was also painful, and we did not stay out very long before returning to The Caboose for breakfast. As if the day had not already started badly, the coffee maker also decided that it was not going to work either and I had to make do with instant coffee. The coffee maker is less than a year old. Incidentally,
I was too late for the morning get together. Peggy stopped by to check on me, which was nice of her, and I spun her my tale of woe of the aches and pains. She left with BJ, and I went back to working on the blog. We had no plans except maybe a trip in to HEB for groceries.
I sat at the computer reading about our troubled world knowing full well that there is absolutely nothing that I can do to change anything. It is what it is and we just have to hope that nothing bad happens in our immediate vicinity. I have a couple of friends who are legitimate gun owners like me, and they have resorted to always having a gun with them in their house or truck. I have not reached that stage yet and hope that I do not have to.
I decided to go into town to the HEB located there but before leaving, I found the number for Great-Clips to arrange for a haircut appointment. Sometimes, they take walk-ins if they are not busy but the best way to get an appointment is to call ahead and get your name on the list. The App keeps you informed as to how much time you take before you get to sit in the chair. As it happened, my timing was perfect and after I walked in, I was ushered to the back and into a chair where a very nice lady gave me “a short back and sides with a little off the top”. More than satisfied, I tipped the young lady very handsomely and walked out to go across the road to the HEB located there.
The store was not crowded at all, and I wandered around occasionally glancing at my list so that unnecessary things did not sneak their way into my basket. You have to watch out for the “Gotta have that and Must have this, gremlins”. I finally made it back to the check out with only a couple of battles with the “Must Have gremlins” and even without any bottles of wine or any fancy food, I still managed to spend almost $160.00 dollars.
Food sure has gotten expensive. I stopped at Starbucks and treated myself to an ice cold drink which I consumed on the way home. The drive back was uneventful with no turtles crossing the road, so I did not have to take my life in my hands literally, to save them.
Back at the RV, I got my usual help from the dogs with busy noses and lots of jumping around, well Mikey was doing the jumping. Sandy just sniffs a lot. They helped to put things away as they usually do and got their customary fusses. I sat around for the rest of the afternoon working on the blog before we went out for the final walk of the day. We managed to walk just over a mile, which was not bad considering the heat.
Back in the RV I must have dozed off because the next thing I knew it was almost10:30 pm. I had not eaten the evening meal but I had fed the dogs. They are more important than me anyway. I did not bother to feed myself but crawled under the covers and fell back asleep.
