The start of yet another month as this year is tearing on by.
I slept very well and was very reluctant to get out of bed. I made the mistake of throwing back the covers which the dogs took as a signal that I was crawling out. They both dashed off the bed into the living room so I figured that they both had to “go”. I jumped out of bed and threw cold water on my face to wake me up. They certainly don’t need a half awake old man guiding them around and I could see that things were desperate as far as they were concerned.
We wandered around the park going wherever Miss Sandy decided we had to go. My job is to keep her out of trouble so that Mikey and I are safe from whatever she is dragging us into. It was already hot out and the sweat poured off me. I could feel my shirt sticking to me and sweat on my face. Luckily for me, neither dog was very comfortable and it wasn’t long that Sandy, with a little nudge here and there from me, took us back to the RV.
I fixed myself breakfast and that all important coffee and sat in front of the computer to get the blog started. Nothing much had happened that had not happened yesterday and the day before that and on and on ad infinitum. Actually, it probably sounds a bit boring and repetitious and I suppose it is but at my age, I don’t need surprises. I like a slow, quiet and peaceful life just me and the dogs. and along with the few friends that I have remaining. That is another reason that I can enjoy the RV life and the friends I have here who are all special. All I need is a roof over my head and a place to eat and sleep and my dogs for company. Of course, it is simplified by not travelling around any more.
With the blog all caught up, I wondered what today might bring. I do have a trip into town to go grocery shopping planned but other than that, nothing and the shopping trip is not a necessity. As it turns out, I decided that I really should go grocery shopping after all as I was out of the tiny bottles of wine that I like so much. I drove into the HEB in Dripping Springs and wandered around slowly filling my shopping cart which included the tiny bottles of wine. I must have either purchased more groceries than I usually do OR the prices have gone up…again, as my bill was way over $200.00 and it is usually around $150.00. Big sigh…
I thought about a Latte but decided against it. Things just don’t taste the same as I grow older and besides, I really wasn’t in a Latte mood. The drive home was straightforward and I was met by two excited little dogs who, as usual “helped” to unload the groceries by checking out each bag to be sure it reached their standards. They haven’t turned one down yet!
We went out walking around the park although it was very hot outside. We compensated by staying in the wooded area where there was a lot of shade. They don’t like staying out for very long anyway. Neither do I…
The awning was out and it gave the deck a nice shaded area to sit which we did for a while. There was enough breeze to keep it a bit cooler and I helped it along with a small bottle of wine. We sat there until it started to get dark and then I brought in the bird feeders as another day came to an end.
Indoors, it was the usual feed the dogs and then myself and watch a movie until midnight.

It sounds peaceful! You mentioned that things don’t taste the same as you grow older do you think lifestyle, or diet may be influencing that more than age itself? but do you ever worry that staying in the same routine every day might limit new experiences or connections?
It’s hard to say on the diet thing. I do know that things that I liked so much before do not taste the same anymore
