Another day, another dollar as the saying goes. It doesn’t really apply as today is Sunday and not a working day for most people. Still, I woke up and ready to get up which is the main thing. We have no plans for today and will play it by ear. Wonder where that expression came from?

We went out for the first walk and Sandy and Mikey were in fine form and raring to go. We took the outside road leading down the hill and managed to cover 1.8 miles. Pretty good for the first walk of the day. It has cooled down considerably which makes walking much more enjoyable for all of us.

Back in the RV, I fixed breakfast although mine was different than the dogs and we all settled down in our usual places. Sandy was asleep in her basket; Mikey was on my lap, and I was sitting in front of the computer. I worked on the blog finishing off and posting yesterday and starting work on today.

There was not a lot to write about as I hadn’t been anywhere or done anything out of the ordinary. I sat around a lot making a fuss of the dogs and such and found a couple of things to read before reverting to listening to the current story I have on my phone. I got engrossed in it and it took Mikey to give me a nudge to tell me he had to go and to get up off my arse and take them out.

We wandered around the park and hit the outside Loop towards Hwy 290 and by the end of the walk, had covered 3:00 miles for the day, one of the best yet.

I had been having problems with my TV reception and it kept telling me there was no signal and consequently, no picture to watch. I fiddled around with no clue as to what I was doing and lo and behold, the picture appeared. I must have done something right for it to come back on.

Now, I was all set for the evening and found an English Football game to watch. That with a glass of wine and I was in seventh heaven. I wonder where that expression came from?

We went to bed a bit later than usual and quickly dropped off to sleep although we awoke several times in the night for the call of Nature. OK, I had to pee more times than I usually do for whatever reason. It was also colder than it has been, and I may need to dig out another bed cover to keep warm. I awoke around 8:00 am ready to face the day although I didn’t get out of bed straight away, just sort of lay there thinking of different things and the day ahead and going over in my mind what I needed to do which, by the way, is not very much.

I awoke after a very good night’s sleep and rolled out of bed, ready for that all important, first walk. We wandered around with no specific direction in mind and managed to cover 1.3 miles on that walk. We could have covered more except that Miss Sandy was in one of her exploratory moods and had to examine every smell she came across. This started Mikey off and needless to say, progress was very slow, and we only covered 1.3 miles. Still, better than nothing.

Today, I was outside and discovered that the wind had blown over a couple of the plants that I have on each step leading into the RV. To help with the watering process, I use small plastic trays that fit under the plant containers. One was missing on the plant knocked over by the wind. I managed to locate the tray and was about to put it back under the plant and another gust of wind took a hold of it and I have not seen it since. I searched in the vicinity of the RV, but it seems to have just plain disappeared. Something else to replace next time I go into town.

Back in the RV, I caught up with the blog and looked around for other things to do. It was a quiet day with not much going on, I needed bird seed and hopped in the Jeep for the short trip to Tractor Supply where I found what I needed which included not only the bird seed but glue for a little project that I am working on.

Back in The Caboose, I refilled the feeders hanging in the trees which hang out all the time. The feeders on the poles are brought in at night as the deer come visiting and have discovered that they can tip the seed out of them. Then there is my friendly little squirrel whose contortions in his effort to gobble down his share, are funny to watch. Incidentally, the glue mentioned in the earlier paragraph is to repair the two big feeders that the squirrel has damaged.

We went out walking again and managed to cover 1-8 miles on the first walk. Yesterday was an exceptional walking day as we covered exactly 3 miles.

The rest of the day was spent a little differently as for whatever reason, the TV is not working, and I can’t receive a picture. Always something with mechanical things. Instead, I listened to an Audiobook for the rest of the evening.

9:00 am seems to be the preferred time that my body is deciding it wants to wake up and then finally, get up. Most of the time that is OK as we normally do not have anything important to do early in the morning as I try to make sure that any appointments are no earlier than 11:00 am and that obviously depends on where they are. Dripping Springs is about 20 minutes away and South Austin closer to an hour. Add another 30 minutes if it is in North Austin. So much depends on the timing and traffic.

As usual, the dogs’ needs come first, and we harnessed up to take that first walk of the day. As we have done these past few mornings, we took the outside road leading to Hwy 290 although we did not make it to the end. We did manage to cover 1.5 miles on that first wander around.

Back in the RV, I fixed the dogs breakfast and neither of them ate it. Still, it can sit in their bowls until either one or the other gets hungry. If they don’t eat the meat, there is always hard food available. Their choice. I fixed myself toast and Marmalade, but it wasn’t very appetizing. What I really wanted was Toast and Marmite but have not been able to find any Marmite in the stores.

Determined to get a Marmite “fix”, I went online and ordered a couple of jars to be delivered from the closest Walmart’s and it should be here in a couple of days. We’ll see how that works out.

We had no plans for today except to play “catch up” with the blog which was very easy to do as we hadn’t done anything or been anywhere. In fact, I really had to think hard to find something to even write about. My life is probably very boring to many people as I don’t do very much through the day. The high spot would be the occasional drive into either Dripping Springs (HEB or The Home Depot) or Austin (Walmart’s). Add in the occasional medical appointment which can be anything from Dentist to Doctor’s of different specialties depending on what might be wrong.

Most of my time centers around the dogs and I try to make sure that they get a lot of exercise which at the same time, is beneficial to me as well.

My good friend and next-door neighbor, Delores, called me back as I had previously left a message asking her if she wanted to go out to dinner. Her response was affirmative, and I left it up to her to choose the time and place. I knew that she had a doctor’s appointment today and dinner might help to get over that uncomfortable situation.

Promptly at 5:00 pm, she pulled up and drove us to the Crab Shack, which is the closest eating place to us and always has good food and today was no exception as we enjoyed our meal and, in my case, a couple of pints of alcoholic beverage of my choice.

Then, it was a short drive back to our respective RV’s and for me to take the dogs out walking one more time. The rest of the evening would have been spent watching the TV but something was wrong, and I could not get a signal.

So, me and the dogs went to bed early and had no trouble in falling asleep.

I slept well which is to be expected after drinking the contents of an entire bottle of wine with my good friend Delores who also drank an entire bottle of her own. Just a couple of old lushes living it up. The good thing about it was that I did not have a hangover which is a wonder. It’s been a very long time since I “tied one on” like that. I guess we are both a bad influence on each other…

Back in The Caboose, we went out walking as we usually do and just wandered around and ended up a bit short of our goal mostly due to the fact that it came on to rain. I have this thing about getting unnecessarily wet and so we cut the walk short.

Then I fixed breakfast all around only I had oatmeal, and the dogs had roast chicken which is pretty much their staple diet. It is always a toss-up if Sandy eats hers and she sometimes needs persuading. Mikey saves his for late afternoon when I eat my evening meal. Guess he takes his cue from me. Incidentally, they always have hard food available.

My next-door neighbor, Gina, has pulled out yesterday but says she will be back in a couple of months. She has one of the very small Airstream campers built for one or maybe two people which she pulls with her Jeep truck. We wish her a safe journey on her new adventure. It’s a sure thing that I cannot pull The Caboose with my Jeep as it is much too heavy.

It was a cloudy and overcast day, but it did not really look like rain although that can quickly change. I sat indoors and worked on the blog and watched as the new man, Joshua went to work with his mower and heard the occasional clatter as he managed to run over a rock hidden in the grass.

I decided that I really should go to the supermarket and get those necessities that I have been putting off. I said goodbye to the dogs and drove into Dripping Springs to the HEB located there. I wandered around the store and a few things popped into my cart and I still managed to spend a $100.00. It might be my imagination, but the cost of groceries seems to go up every time I go shopping.

I thought about a Latte but decided against it as the line was too long and made the 11-mile drive back to the RV Park to be greeted by my little buddies whose noses were busy checking things out.

With groceries put away, we harnessed up and went out for the evening walk around the park. The rest of the day was spent as it usually is watching a Premier League game {or two}, the evening meal and a glass (or two) of wine.

It was a very strange night, and I was awake for some of the time. For some reason, I just could not stay asleep and awoke several times, tossing and turning until finally dropping back off again. I could hear the dogs muttering under their breath, “Stupid human, why doesn’t he go to sleep or at least stay still”.

I must have eventually done just that as the next thing, it was 10:00 am in the morning and the dogs were still snoring away. Sometimes I wish I was a dog in a good home getting three squares a day and lots of loving and walkies. What a life! Incidentally, that is the latest I can ever remember getting up or even sleeping that late.

I scrambled out and quickly sloshed cold water on my face to complete the wake-up job, harnessed up the dogs who were running around with their legs crossed and out the door we went. The dogs hit the first patch of grass and must have peed for ten minutes each. Well maybe not that long but a bit longer than normal.

We wandered around wherever Sandy wanted to go which was all over the place. There must be a lot of interesting smells out there!

Back in The Caboose, I fixed us all breakfast and as usual, neither of the dogs ate it. I don’t know why as it is what they ate yesterday, chicken. Maybe, they don’t like repetition or maybe they just aren’t hungry.

I worked on the blog as I usually do and partly straightened out a bit of a scheduling mess I had unknowingly created. I’m afraid that a couple of the blogs will be out of order which doesn’t matter too much as very few have stories that carry over from one day to the next. It’s not like there are exciting things happening every day. Most of the time, the days are very repetitious which is how I like them. I’m too old for surprises.

Me and the squirrel were having a friendly game of tag as he was busy visiting the bird feeders. I wonder if it is the same one every time. Today, I was feeling benevolent and did not chase him off as I usually do. He likes the hanging seed lumps for want of a better word. This is OK but I wish he would work on both sides to keep the seed balanced and still hanging as eventually, it falls off the hanger. Then it becomes deer feed at night.

I wonder if the birds and animals chatter amongst themselves passing along information like, “Go to site no 18. There is a good supply of seed there and the owner is a big old softie and doesn’t care who eats what”.

We sat around for some of the afternoon before going out for the afternoon walk which should be known as the Postal Run as apart from the exercise, collecting the mail is the whole purpose of that particular walk. Not that I get many letters which is a good thing as those I get are usually bills. Personal letter writing is a lost art, and I am as guilty as the next person….

I was sitting outside with a glass of wine as I often do when Delores appeared with a couple of bottles of the stuff straight from her secret cache. I welcomed her with open arms, and we managed to sit on my deck and finish off both bottles. I can’t remember her leaving as the next thing I knew was waking up sitting indoors on the couch. There was no sign of Delores so she must have made it home safely as she hadn’t called either.

I crawled off to bed first making sure that the dogs were OK and immediately crashed. Amazing what a bottle of wine will do to you. So ended another day in my little piece of heaven.

The morning was the usual process of waking up enough to actually get up and then harness up the dogs to go walking. It is starting to cool down just a little bit barely touching 90 degrees. It is still hot by any body’s standards, so we did not stay out very long after wandering around the park.

Peggy and her family were over in the Commons having just finished breakfast, so I wandered over just to say hello. A couple of the kids asked for a hug. and I was only too glad to oblige. There is nothing nicer than a hug from a young, sweet kid. I might be stepping on dangerous ground here with a comment like that.

Back in The Caboose, I tidied up and made the bed along with a couple of other chores before settling down to write the blog. It turned out to be a real lazy day as I sat around a lot not doing anything in particular until it was time to walk the dogs again. BTW, I do not turn on the TV on anyone of these lazy days.

We wandered around the park and managed to cover 1.2 miles barely making our minimum. Still, walking is walking and any amount of it is good for my ageing body.

Back in The Caboose, the rest of the evening was spent in the usual way, food for the dogs, food for me and watching the English Premier League.

I slept really well even though I awoke a couple of times, dropping right back off with no trouble. I even got up at a reasonable hour…for me. The first order of the day as it always is, was to harness up the dogs and take them walking. We wandered around the park but did not go very far, enough for the dogs to do their business and that was about it. Less than a mile, unfortunately.

Back in The Caboose, I fixed the dogs breakfast and then found something for myself which, although filling me up was not very appetizing. The coffee was good though and really hit the spot.

I had some pork chops I had bought and put them on the indoor grill to cook. Then, I looked around for something else to do and did not find very much of importance. Today, I plan on taking a trip to the HEB store in Dripping Springs as I received a phone call telling me my prescription was ready.

I poked around with other things for a bit and then decided to take that trip into town to the HEB located there. I wandered up and down the aisles deliberately covering everyone in the vain hope that actually seeing something would be enough to jog my memory. I had a list but had that nagging feeling that something I needed was not on it. I did find a couple of items like a coffee mug and a strainer that I needed.

I really wanted a Starbucks coffee and as the line was only one car long, stopped and bought a Latte. I hadn’t had one in a while, so I thoroughly enjoyed it on the way home. As usual, I got all kinds of help unloading the groceries and the little noses were going a mile a minute.

With everything put away, I harnessed up the dogs and away we went wandering around the park. Altogether for the day, we covered 2.3 miles.

The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way.

Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise so the saying goes. I tried both going to bed early and getting up early and so far, have not noticed any difference. Definitely no wiser nor any wealthier so to heck with it. I’m going to continue to do what I do now and that is go to bed around 10:30 pm and get up around 9:00 am.

Generally, speaking, I very rarely have anything important that I need to worry about getting to very early. When I can I always set the appointment time never any earlier than 11:00 am and that depends on how far I have to drive.

Today, there are no appointments although I do have to go into town as we are out of dry dog food, and I can always find something else to buy in the HEB store.

We went out for our morning walk and covered more than a mile. Today, both dogs were into the walking, and we even had the unusual occurrence of both dogs pooping at the same time, four feet apart. That sure makes the clean up much simpler.

Then it was time to play catch up with the blog although not much of the day had passed. I sat and wrote finishing off yesterday’s blog before starting on today. I got as far as I could with today and sat there thinking about what to do. Actually, I did not have to think too hard as while I was trying to feed the dogs, I discovered we were out of dry dog food which is always available to them.

That did it as I said goodbye to my little friends and jumped in the Jeep for the short drive into town to the HEB store located there. Of course, it didn’t end with dog food as I had a list of all of the things I needed to buy plus of course the things that have a mind of their own and somehow find a way into my cart. After checking out with the usual minimum $100:00 cost, I drove back to Henly. I did make a stop at the Starbucks located in town for a latte which kept me company for the drive home.

Back at the RV park, I unloaded the groceries with a lot of help and then spent a little time putting everything away. At the moment, the refrigerator looks pretty full as besides the food, there is other important stuff like beer and wine which I also restocked today.

It came on to rain enough to keep us indoors for a bit although it was close to walkies time.

I slept really soundly but must have had a wrestling match with something during the night as the covers were all pulled to one side. Luckily it was my side as I was still covered up so I guess I must have won the match. Sandy, however, was out in the cold so to speak although she never gets under the covers but cuddles with her pillow instead. Mikey usually sleeps on my pillow very close to my head. I don’t know if he thinks he is guarding me or me him, but it all works out.

We went out for that first walk of the day and I noticed that Daniels truck was no longer visible, so I assumed that they have gone back to where they are staying. Damn, I miss them already…The new park managers are Amber and Josh. In a way, it is a good thing the park is not full as it gives the two of them time to settle in and learn the ropes and get to know who the tenants are. By the same token, they will have time to figure out who are the most demanding and who are the troublemakers.

While we were out, I checked on the two flower plants that I stuck in the ground yesterday. Sad to say that the deer had managed to eat nearly all of both plants especially, the flowers. I hope they got a good dose of indigestion. I guess that I need to stick with the plants that I know the deer don’t eat. No more experimenting with different ones..

I debated on whether to go into town or not and decided against it. I’ll go tomorrow. Yeah, right. I looked around for other things to get up to and apart from a bit of tidying up, could not find anything. I made the mistake of sitting on the couch with the dogs and in stroking them, I managed to take a nap. I didn’t mean to as it just happened.

I awoke an hour later and sat there thinking about what had just happened. I often relax with my eyes closed but I never normally drop off to sleep. Another part of growing old, no doubt. At least, now it was time to go walking which we did around the park and managed to cover 2.2 miles for the day. Wow.

The rest of the day was spent in the usual fashion with the evening meal, after feeding the dogs and then an English Premier League game,

I managed to sleep late, and it was 9:30 am before I rolled out. The funny thing is that the dogs also slept late so I don’t feel too guilty about it. After all, it is their needs that make me get up anyway. As we usually do, we went out walking and wandered around covering 1.4 miles for the morning with Sandy leading the charge as she usually does. She insists on walking in the grass which I don’t care for. Not only does she get wet feet but there is always the risk of snakes even though I try to pay attention as much as I can. Still, it only takes a couple of seconds for a snake to strike. Mikey usually walks on the road unless Sandy finds something interesting then he will join her in checking it out.

We wandered around and while we were out, it came on to rain and we got more than a little wet. I blamed Sandy as she is such a poke when we are out walking. It is as though she needs to check out every smell on every blade of grass.

Back in the RV, I first changed my clothes after wiping the dogs somewhat dry and then I fixed the dogs breakfast which Sandy ate. Mikey of course, saved his for later. I fixed my own breakfast which consisted of two pieces of toast and Marmalade. It filled a spot but was not necessarily very appetizing. Oh well. Today, I reverted back to drinking coffee again.

Then as usual, it was time to work on the blog. I noticed that somehow, I have managed to screw up in the blog sequence and last weeks are all over the place. Too bad as I am probably the only one who will notice, and I don’t count as a reader.

The time was slipping by when I glanced at the clock, and it said it was almost 3:00 pm already. I have no idea where the time has gone but it goes by fast. Technically, today is an official holiday, Labor Day, and much of the general population is celebrating with a day off from work. That does not include anyone in the retail business as today is a big shopping day. Incidentally, I don’t plan on joining the shopping population at least not today.

We went out walking the outside roads and managed to cover 3:00 miles, a really good day by our standards. We have not reached 3 miles in a long time. No wonder I was tired.

The rest of the day was spent in the usual fashion with food all around and then watching Brighton tie with Manchester City in a hard-fought game.

I got up late as it was almost 9:00 am when I rolled out. We have no plans for today, so it didn’t really matter much what time I crawled out.

The first thing as it is every day was to harness up the dogs and get them outside for their morning walk and bathroom break after a long night. We wandered around and even walked a little way up the hill towards Hwy 290 but never made it all of the way. It was already warming up and is going to be another scorcher, but we covered almost a mile.

Then it was back to The Caboose for breakfast and that all important coffee and at the same time, working on the blog to bring it up to date. We spent an hour or so writing the blog and everything that goes along with it like posting and such and then spent some time, tidying up the RV. Mostly it is things I leave laying around which need attention. I threw in a load of laundry and left it to do its thing for a couple of hours and turned my attention to other important things. I remembered to open the drains to let the water out.

We went out for another walk and wandered around the neighborhood saying hello to anyone else who happened to be out. I cannot get over how empty the park really is with probably at least twenty open spots. This is the emptiest that I have seen it in the four years I have been here. I guess that the economy has a lot to do with that and the100 plus degree heat. Luckily, I do believe that the heat has peaked, and we are on our way down the other side.

Then, it was back indoors for the evening meal and watch a soccer game on the TV. Part the way through the game, I remembered that I had not brought in the bird feeders and promptly turned on the outside lights and paid attention to that small detail.

Then it was back to the game and eventually, the bed.

I was ready to get up early but made the mistake of rolling over instead of getting out of bed. Consequently, it was past 9:00 am when I did get up. It doesn’t matter as we have nothing planned except the usual walkies although I have started a grocery list so maybe I will go into town later. The jury is still out on that.

We went out walking as we usually do unless it is raining, and we haven’t seen very much of that this summer. Maybe, now it is Fall we may get some more. We only covered 7/10’s of a mile on the morning walk which means we have to cover a lot more to get in our quota.

Then it was back indoors for the usual breakfast routine. I had a bacon sandwich and tea, for a change and Sandy helped me eat the sandwich. She loves bacon. Mikey got his share as well, so my breakfast was split three ways. Oh well…

Then it was time to work on the blog but with so little going on, there is not a lot to write about. The Park is still losing tenants. Some is due to the season slowing down, other to the economy and maybe even the heat had something to do with it. Nearly all of the RV’s that are here are permanents that work in Dripping Springs or the surrounding countryside. Directly in front of my site are four pull-through sites for those that are just travelling around and passing through. Currently, they too are empty and have been for a while. Down in the lower section is a similar arrangement and those sites are also empty. On the top row where I spent some time when I first got here 3 out of the 5 sites are empty

One thing is certain and that is that I am not planning on going anywhere except when the time comes, feet first in a wooden box. Let’s hope that is several years off. Incidentally, my RV is known as a Park Model. Although it can be towed to get it from A to B, it is too heavy for regular RV’ing and is built to sit permanently in a park somewhere. Hence the model’s name and type, Bungalow.

Daniel, the previous Park Supervisor along with Malinda, his wife, helped me to build a set of steps and a deck in front of my RV as we are permanent. I do wish it was just a foot wider and a couple of feet longer. Maybe the owners will let me expand just a little bit in the future. Incidentally, one of my very good friends, Delores, who is parked next to me did most of the step painting for which I was very grateful as I find that sort of painting, boring…

I decided to go into town to do some shopping and hopped in the car for the short trip. My little buddies gave me “the look” as I walked out the door. I only went to the HEB as I really didn’t need that much, and it was more of an excuse to get out and about than actual need.

I bought just a few things and still managed to spend a hundred dollars. Money does not seem to go very far nowadays, and we are not talking high priced articles. I did buy a couple of kitchen utensils, but they weren’t high priced either. Oh well, it’s only money…

Back in The Caboose, I had a lot of help in putting the groceries away as I usually do and then we harnessed up to go walking. We just wandered around the park and found a couple of neighbors to chat to before eventually returning to The Caboose for the evening meal.

Then it was the usual glass of wine only in my case, it is a can of wine along with the evening meal and a couple of English Premier League soccer games to round off the evening.

We have nothing planned and the morning was taken up with dog walks and bringing out the bird feeders before heading indoors for breakfast and coffee, I have changed a bit and am drinking hot tea instead of coffee in the mornings just for something different.

I noticed that Daniel was showing the new manager the ropes and they were busily driving around on his 4 wheeler rushing from one place to the next. There is a lot to learn in the time that Daniel will be here which at the most will be a couple of days. Incidentally, they have already put BJ’s new to her, RV to good use and are staying in it while at the park.

I worked on the blog bringing it up to date and looked around for other things to get up to and not finding very much. We sat around a lot waiting for time to pass as Daniel had invited me to join him and Malinda and the new Park Manager for a couple of beers, I jumped at the chance so I could get to know them.

At the allotted time, I took the dogs out walking and headed down the hill to where the girls RV is parked. Amber and Josh were sitting along with Malinda and Daniel, and I introduced myself. We chatted for an hour or more and I got to know a little bit about them.

I walked back to the RV and Josh walked back with me just to make sure that I wasn’t so drunk that if I fell over, he was there to pick me up. Actually, I was nowhere near that state as I only drank two beers. Still, it was nice of him. I said Goodnight to him and went inside.

The rest of the evening was spent with food all around and watching an English Premier League game.

I awoke early, took a shower and with a complete change of clothes, was ready to face the day. Again, we have nothing planned and will play it by ear. As usual, the first order of the day was the morning walk and we wandered around and ended up taking the road outside the park towards Hwy 290. It was remarkably cool for a change. Just give it a while and it is guaranteed to get hotter. This is Texas after all. Incidentally, we covered 1.5 miles on that first walk.

Back in the RV, I fed the dogs and for a change, both of them ate their breakfast. I found something to munch on and made myself a cup of tea instead of the usual coffee. With breakfast out of the way I settled down to write the blog.

There was all kinds of activity outside. The Boss Lady was here to work with the new Park Managers and suddenly, Daniel and Malinda showed up. Apparently, they are here to show the new managers the ropes for a couple of days and help them get settled in to their new job and environment.

There has been some movement between a couple of the tenants. Donna had pulled her RV into the spot vacated by Jeff and Terri and Peggy’s son has pulled his right next to Donna. Now Peggy and her family are only two RV’s apart. This is the emptiest that I have ever seen this park with probably twenty vacant spots.

Daniel stopped over to visit with me and we sat and drank a beer as he filled me in on the park happenings. The new people start work on Monday and he and Malinda are here for a couple of days to show them the ropes. I got to say hello to Remington,

After he left, we went out for another walk around the park but it was still way too hot to really enjoy it so we came back to The Caboose and did a lot of sitting around. As the evening came on, we sat and watched Brighton and Hove Albion beat Manchester United,

I awoke and looked at my watch to see it was almost 9:00 am. We lay there for a bit with the dogs still sleeping and then I crawled out and took a shower. That at least woke the dogs and they joined me in the bathroom (but not in the shower} while I got dressed.

They raced backwards and forwards to the door all the time giving me “the look” which meant they had to go, I hurriedly put on some clothes and out we went to wander around the park. It was already hot out so we did not wander very far and soon returned to the RV.

When we got back, I got out the bird feeders and rehung them although I did not have to refill any. I have a couple of plants hanging off the top deck and one of them needed some attention so while I was out and in the mood, I took care of that one as well.

Then it was back indoors to the A/C as the temperature was already rising. Next thing on the agenda was feed the dogs although for some reason, they are being fussy over their food. Time for a change I guess. Sandy would not eat hers but was very quick helping me eat mine. Incidentally, they always have hard food available so they are not going to starve.

I caught up with the blog and sat there wondering what else we might get up to today but could not come up with anything exciting. In the end, I decided to go into Austin to the Walmart’s there even though I did not need very much. I said goodbye to the dogs and jumped in the Jeep for the 35 mile journey into Austin Luckily, Walmart’s is located right on the edge of town closest to Henly which helps a lot.

I wandered around and for someone that went in just for pork chops, ended up spending nearly $100.00. Oh well, it’s only money. I didn’t buy any beer or wine this time though as I am trying to cut back a bit on my alcohol consumption as it is beginning to bother my stomach.

The drive home was straightforward although I chose to drive the back way for a change and also to miss the road construction just outside of Oak Hill. It actually made a pleasant change to take that route home.

Back in the RV, I was greeted by two very excited little dogs and we immediately harnessed up and went out for a short walk. It was still hot at 97 degrees but certainly a bit cooler according to the thermometer. Hard to notice any difference when we are walking about and we made the walk a short one.

Back in the RV, I worked on the blog to bring it up to date as I waited to go eat with the girls and Peggy’s family who are now living here at the park for a while. A bit later on, we gathered in the Break Room for a very good meal and a couple of beers. With the meal finished, the kids wanted to go swimming at the pool which was Donna, BJ and my cue to leave and go back to our respective RV’s.

The rest of the evening was spent watching the English Premier League as my Great Grandsons team won their game.

I got up early for me and we harnessed up to wander around outside. It was reasonably cool at this early hour as we got out before 8:00 am. We wandered around and walked by Jeff’s RV which showed obvious signs of leaving preparedness. It looked like they had everything packed and only had to hook up.

We walked the outside road and down the hill as far as the fenced in dogs that always greet us in their noisy way. It was still nice and shady but we did not walk all the way, only covering about half of our usual distance, I did not want to miss Jeff and Terri’s departure and at least wanted to wave them Goodbye. This occurred about ten minutes later with Jeff driving the tow vehicle and pulling the RV and Terry driving their heavily loaded Jeep.

I wonder if we will ever see them again?

The Park is pretty empty at the present moment probably because of the very hot 100 degree temperatures and there are lots of empty camp sites. As I was watching, a camper pulled in and found his site in the lower section.

A little later, the new manager pulled into the empty spot vacated by Daniel and Malinda and with Jeff and Terri now gone, the changing of the guard is now complete. I wonder how the new regime will handle things? There are only two of them and this is a big park with a lot of maintenance, We’ll see.

We went out for another walk and just wandered around. It clouded over as though it was going to rain but never did and we arrived back at The Caboose all hot and sweaty. Well, I was the hot and sweaty one as the dogs don’t sweat except through their tongue,

The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way.

Another day at Henly RV Park. Today started with a short walk about and then I went over to the Commons to mix and mingle with the other guests on the occasion of Jeff and Terri leaving the park. The Boss Lady was present with her three kids who are extremely bright and very affectionate to each other. I spent quite a bit of time observing them and was highly amused.

Eventually, the gathering broke up with each going their separate ways. We went out for another short walk before returning to the RV to get breakfast and work on the blog. It was already warming up and the temperature is forecast to reach 105 degrees. If it reaches that, it will be the hottest day so far this year and we are not going out in it…

I found things to do indoors like house cleaning and such and spent some time on it. We also sat around a lot with our eyes closed. The dogs may have gone off to sleep but I didn’t.

Time passed and it was time to go out for the evening walk. It had not cooled off very much but we wandered around so the dogs could have some exercise and as usual, Miss Sandy dictated where we went and how fast we went. She certainly has Me and Mikey very well trained.

Later on, we went out walking and stopped at Larry and Crystal’s RV as they were sitting outside talking to Jeff and Terry. Then Judy showed up and joined us plus Cheryl, her boyfriend and two kids. We were served food and drink and sat there chattering and enjoying the food and the company. That was a very nice surprise.

An hour or so later, we continued with our walk and ended up back at The Caboose where we adjourned for the rest of the evening.

Living in an RV Henly RV Park Thursday 08/22/2024

I slept very soundly not even waking for the call of Nature until early this morning around 7:00 am. Early for me that is. I toyed with the idea of actually getting up at that God forsaken hour but quickly put that idea out of my head and rolled over and went back to sleep. Not for very long though as I was up, showered and had on clean clothes by 8:00 am.

The first order of the day was the dog walk which we did very slowly as Miss Sandy had a whole bunch of overnight smells she had to check out. She took forever and I mean forever as we very slowly wandered around. The only exercise she got was with her nose going a mile a minute and the rest of us did no better as we were walking at her speed.

Back in The Caboose, I fixed us all breakfast although mine was different than the dogs. Somehow, I did not fancy what they were eating. Then, I sat down in front of the computer and played catch up with the blog although to be truthful, not a lot had happened since we got up.

I had an appointment in Austin and made sure I left in plenty of time to get to it. This one was actually with my Dentist and was just a cleaning and inspection just in case I have any cavities which as it happened I do and have to come back next Tuesday for treatment.

The drive home was uneventful although the rush hour traffic was just starting. I thought about stopping at Walmart’s but decided against it and drove straight home to be met by my little dogs

Then it was time to go walking again and we wandered around as we usually do. It was still hot outside so we did not go very fast or very far. We wandered around and ended up at Jeff and Terri’s RV and sat and drank a couple of beers with them. These will be the last ones at least in the near future as they pull out tomorrow.

We sat around some more but indoors this time in The Caboose as it was still very hot out and then turned the TV on and watched it until 10:30 or so.

I awoke early for me and actually got out of bed making an early start for us for today. First thing was the inevitable dog walk around the park. This time, I got lucky as both dogs pooped at the same time in almost the same place. That shortened the walk a bit as we were not having to await one or the other to do their business.

It was already hot out although for some reason, it did not bother Sandy like it usually does and she was going after it. I tried to slow her down for both me and Mikey’s sake and eventually, she figured out the error of her ways and did just that.

Back in the RV, I made us all breakfast and Sandy ate hers. Mikey did his usual thing and saved his for later. I ate mine, a toasted ham sandwich and the all important coffee and then spent time working on the blog.

With the blog written and up to date, I turned my attention to cleaning house and tidying up the RV. Luckily for me, the place was not too untidy and was quickly back in shape again. Then we walked around for a bit getting some exercise before returning to the RV.

The word went out that we were planning on eating Fish and Chips at Garbo’s and several of us gathered to do just that. This was to celebrate that Jeff and Terri were leaving the park and would be a special going away gathering for them. Incidentally, we were NOT celebrating that they were leaving. Quite the contrary in fact and we were more than a little sad that they were. Both are very nice people.

Incidentally, the food was very good and I enjoyed it immensely. We drove back to the park and each of us went to our own RV’s except Daniel, Malinda and Remington who spent the night with Delores in her RV.

I got up early for me at 8:00 am knowing that I have an eye doctors appointment in Austin. I couldn’t remember what time it was for so was taking no chances. Once I was up and about, I looked for the time of the appointment and discovered it is not until 1:00 pm. I stayed up anyway figuring that why waste an hour back in bed.

As it usually does, the first walk of the day got us rolling as we strolled around the camp ground. We ran into one of the girls who was out walking with her son. The son and his family have just bought an RV and it is parked a couple of sites up from me.

Back in The Caboose, I fixed all three of us breakfast although mine was different than the dogs. The other difference was that I ate mine and the dogs both saved theirs for later. Both dogs zonked off and I settled down to start the blog for today.

I made a mistake in yesterdays blog saying that I had an Eye Doctors appointment which was really for today. So I made that drive into Austin and spent a couple of hours in the Doctor’s surgery.

The drive home was uneventful and I was greeted by my two little friends when I got back. Then it was their turn and we harnessed up and wandered the park. It was way too hot with 100 degree temperatures to stay out very long.

The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way.

I crawled out at a somewhat reasonable hour and sloshed cold water on my face to help wake me up. Then, I harnessed up the dogs and off we went walking the park. Actually, somehow we wandered onto the field guided by Miss Sandy in one of her wandering moods and spent time there because Sandy had discovered a whole bunch of new smells. A lot of dogs use the field for exercise and the better trained ones can run off their leash. My dogs don’t fall into that category of “better trained”…

The girls have bought a new to them RV a bit like the one I used to have. This one is a small bus but it can sleep six people which will be great for all of the Grandkids they have between them. They still have their permanent RV or at least, parked in one place RV, that they live in full time here in the park,

Garry was in town visiting and stopped by to chat with us for a bit. He is still away and has sold his RV and the tow truck, I think he is looking to buy a smaller unit and is still renting his site here in the park.

Back in my RV, I fed the dogs which needless to say, was ignored, before feeding myself. I wanted a change and sorted through the frozen dinners and such and found one that I thought I might like and heated it up. It actually was not too bad as TV dinners go.

I spent time working on the blog and wondering what to do for the rest of the day knowing that I had a Doctor’s appointment. If today is going to be like most of my days here in the park, then it will be another quiet one. Actually, I don’t need entertaining and am quite happy just to sit and make a fuss of the dogs or write in the blog.

I had to make the drive into Austin as I had that Doctors appointment with my Eye Doctor. I spent more than an hour and a half in the chair there and have to come back next week for further tests. From there, it was to the HEB in Dripping Springs as I had a new prescription that needed to be filled. While in HEB, I did some shopping for food and such.

I drove back to Henly and was greeted by my little friends who are always pleased to see me. After putting the groceries away with a lot of unwanted help, we harnessed up and went out walking around the park but it was very hot and uncomfortable out, even in the shade.

Back in the RV, we sat around a lot and eventually it was evening meal time and then television.
