I awoke late and crawled out of bed for that first walk. It was dull and overcast and very cold with the temperatures hovering around the 40-degree mark. The wind made it feel even colder. We did not stay out long and even the dogs were glad to get back indoors. As I was mounting the steps, I noticed that my full Latte was still sitting there and remembered that with the activity of building the storage unit, I had completely forgotten it. I took it inside and put it in the microwave and drank it for breakfast. It did not appear to be any worse for wear after staying out on the steps all night. I made the usual breakfast to go with the Latte and did a few indoor chores before settling down to catch up with the world news.
From this, I switched to emails before turning my attention to writing the blog. I had to spend some time finishing off the last couple of days and posting them before starting today. We have no plans for today except to stay warm. I need to work on Quatro cleaning out the rest of my stuff especially now I have a storage shed to put it in, but it will keep until the weather warms up.
I heard a knock on the door and looked up and much to my surprise, saw it was my long-time next-door neighbor, Chris from when I lived in Murmuring Creek. He explained that he was in the area and took a chance that I would be in. I showed him around and he seemed genuinely impressed with the RV and the amount of room that I have. We sat and chatted for a while and then he left. Very nice to see him and I hope he returns and this time, brings Claire, his wife, with him.
I came back to earth realizing there were still things to do and people to see. Well maybe not the people part but I did go out and change out the water hose as mine was leaking. Luckily, a spare one came with the unit which saved me from having to buy a new one. While I was out there, I stood and admired the new storage cabinet. It won’t be long before that too is a part of the furniture when it gets put to use. Right now, it is too cold outside for anything other than necessities. Even the dogs are glad of a shortened walk and to be back inside in the warmth.
I continued with the writing resisting the urge to turn on a Premier League game as today is a weekend when the games are played. That will come later this evening. I even wrote another poem being in the right mood for it. I looked at the clock and it read 5:56 pm and I have no idea where today went.
We harnessed up for that final walk of the day just wandering around but just like the earlier walks, we did not stay out long or walk very far.
The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way. I found another series to watch and tried to give it a fair chance but will not watch anymore of it as it was just not to my taste and will have to find a new one. Oh well…

The Adventures of an Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, Dripping Springs TX. Sunday 03/19/2023

I got up early and we went out wandering around. Again, it was another really cold morning with the temperature hovering around the 40-degree mark. Luckily, there was no wind to make it feel colder but even so, we did a quick walk around the park before going back inside in the warmth of the RV.
Normally, with the three large windows facing the early morning sun, I normally have the blinds pulled down to keep out the heat. On mornings like today, all the blinds were up to get as much of the sun’s warmth inside the RV as possible to save on the built in heaters. The RV is heated by propane which, luckily for me, can be refilled directly here at this park. I have mentioned helping Daniel to fill propane bottles in an earlier blog.
I worked on a few pictures that I had recently taken and imported them into storage ready to be used in the blog and then looked around for other things to get up to.
I remembered that the new storage unit came without a shelf and went back to measure and see what I needed. I thought about going into town to buy the wood but decided there was no rush and to go another day. Then, I spent time watering the plants as I had missed them yesterday. They are starting to grow and are looking good. Several park tenants have stopped to comment on the garden, many wishing that their lot had room for one. I was lucky because Malinda and Daniel had this site before me and had started the garden way back then.
First Malinda stopped and we talked for a while before her getting called away as another camper pulled in. Then Daniel stopped to chat spending a good half hour just shooting the breeze. He is a funny guy when he gets rolling on many of his stories.
We went out for another slow walk around the park and the outside road. It had warmed up a bit in the sun but was still cool in the shade. Even at the slow pace we travelled, we managed to cover 1.5 miles for the day.
Yesterday just flew by, today was much slower as we really had nothing of major importance to do. A good way to spend a Sunday.

I love days that don’t have a preconceived plan — being able to wander from one task to the next is just the best!
Better still when there are no tasks…
