Living in an RV. Henly RV Park. Wednesday, December 27, 2023

The friendly donkeys in the park across from us.

I awoke still with traces of the sore stomach that had come on the previous evening and lay there thinking about it and wondering what the problem may be. This is the second time it has happened, but I had made enough trips to the john in the night to hopefully flush it all out.

We got up and after filling and hanging the bird feeders, we wandered around the park and hit the bottom road. I was only feeling slight effects of the previous night but even so, was a bit worried about it. It’s not that I am a drunk, but beer goes along with good company.

We managed to cover 1.4 miles on that first walk, a great start to the day.

While we were walking, a pickup truck came towards us, and I noticed a dog running behind it. At first, I thought the dog was chasing the owner but before it reached us, the truck stopped, and the dog jumped in. It then drove past us with the driver saying, “Good Morning”, and stopped the other side of our location whereupon, the dog got and went ahead chasing the truck down the road again. Apparently, that is how the dog gets its exercise, chasing the pickup truck. Good for the dog but the owner is not getting anything out of it except to feel good about the dog. That particular road is a dead end and is pretty quiet with very little traffic.

Back in the RV, I fed the dogs and then myself and tried tea instead of coffee. It tasted OK so maybe I need to switch to it. Back in England all of those years ago, Tea was the staple drink and coffee was for special occasions. No idea if it is still that way over there.

Then it was time to work on the blog to bring us up to date. I was pretty well caught up except for yesterday and the start of today and had no problem in remembering what had occurred. If I leave it longer than a day, that is when the memory fog creeps in, and I have to work really hard at it.

With the blog all caught up, I did the usual housekeeping tasks and looked around for other things to get up to and completed them. Then, we harnessed up again and went out walking just wandering around. There is no such thing as distance with Miss Sandy leading the way. She stops to smell the roses every three feet and then leaves her calling card on every plant. Definitely not made for distance or speed, that girl. Occasionally, Mikey will rush forward as though he has something important that he has spotted but most of the time, like me, he dutifully follows behind. We are both very well trained…

On one of our walks, we ended up at the girls RV and sat for a while drinking as we usually do. They are so much fun to be around, and I really enjoy their company. By the way, we were drinking seltzer as the girls were out of beer and I did not have any either. Later on, Daniel and then Malinda, both joined us, and we sat and chatted for a while before Daniel complained of being hungry and went back to his RV. Malinda stayed and talked for another half hour before she left to join Daniel.

Using her as a cue, we wandered back to The Caboose and brought in all of the feeders before adjourning back inside for the evening.
