Living in an RV Henly RV Park Thursday, January 4, 2024

I was laying and dozing when suddenly, both dogs jumped up and tore off out into the living area. Wondering what the commotion was all about, I followed them but could not see anything. It must have been something outside. Now that I was out of bed, I decided to stay up and after the usual morning ablutions I got dressed and we went out for the first walk of the day.

It was very brisk out and I was glad to wrap up warm, but I still wore my usual shorts. I suppose that when it gets really cold, I will put on my track suit bottoms but we are not there yet. In truth, I will need gloves before pants as my hands were cold today. I get a lot of comments as we walk around. And I usually turn them into jokes.

Sandy directed us up Henly Loop and we made our way with a lot of stops to smell the roses on our way. The return trip was just as slow as we usually switch sides on the way back to get more of those delicious scents. The cows were out on the farm side of the road with two calves, three pregnant heifers and one bull which is the current population. It changes periodically as the calves mature and are sent off for slaughter. I would not make a good Farmer as I could not send the calves to their deaths every so often. I would probably starve to death while the cows and calves grew fat at my expense. I think the lady that owns the farm sub leases it to the cattle owners as she is way too old to farm it herself and her husband has passed on.

We managed to cover a mile on that first walk which is a good start to the day as we have not been doing too good these past few days, mainly because of the rain which I do not like walking in. Neither do the dogs so when we go out which obviously, we must because of the dogs bathroom needs, it is very short and sweet enough for business and back indoors.

After breakfast, I drove the Jeep onto the grass closer to the storage area and was getting ready to unload the bags of birdseed when Daniel and Jeff stopped by. Jeff grabbed two of the bags of seed from out of the Jeep, one under each arm and Daniel grabbed the other one. They put them close to the storage area by the RV and I finished off the project by putting them under cover.

I thanked them both for their help and went about the business of refilling the bird feeders. Altogether, there are ten of them plus a couple that hold seed cakes. There is always plenty for the birds (and deer) to eat.

Back indoors, with nothing else that needed my attention, I was bored enough to turn on an English Premier League game and got involved in it. This took us into the early evening when it was time to both take that last walk of the day and feed everybody including myself. We even went to bed early around 9:00 pm.
