Living in an RV Henly RV Park Saturday, January 6, 2024

After the early morning of going to bed, I managed to sleep through 8:00 am and then lay there thinking about “stuff”. My first move was obviously to the bathroom, and I was accompanied by the dogs who were looking for early, morning fusses which I handed out as I sat on the john. After all, I had not much else to do at that particular moment.

Back at the RV, I put out the feeders as I usually do, which is a part of our morning routine. The only thing that changes is the order of this occurrence either before we go walking or when we return.

I scratched around and fed the dogs and found something to feed myself along with the inevitable coffee and turned my attention to the blog. I have nothing planned for today except to do my usual lounge around and be as lazy as possible. I wrote the blog for the last couple of days and spent some time posting a couple more and brought the blog up to date. I actually spend several hours a day writing the blog especially if I have missed a day and am having to play catchup. Still, most days, I have nothing else to do so spending time writing is not such a bad thing plus it keeps my brain active.

It was a nice morning as we walked around the park. We chose Henly Loop again and walked it to Hwy 290. I saw a deer with a big rack, but it was too far away and too well hidden to even take a picture. We managed to get in our mile for the morning walk. As we passed Daniel’s workshop, he and Jeff both had their motorcycles out and were mounting up as I passed. Malinda was sitting behind Daniel and Terry behind Jeff as they pulled away. I hope they have a great and enjoyable trip. I had a motorcycle for a while when I lived in England. That was many years ago and I gave it up when I hit a patch of leaves and dumped both the bike and me. That was the end of my motorcycle career. Now I like the comfort and protection of my Jeep.

I knew that I needed to go into Dripping Springs to the HEB to pick up a couple of items and got ready to make that trip. The dogs desperately wanted to go but as I explained to them, dogs are not allowed in food stores.

I patted them on the head and talked to them aa I snuck out of the door for the short drive into town. I found nearly everything that I wanted and a couple of other things, of course, checked out and then drove back to Henly. After unloading the Jeep, and not even bothering to put things away, we went out for the promised walk. We ran into Gary and Peggy who had Remington with her. She is dog sitting while Malinda and Daniel are away. Remi gets on well with Mikey and Sandy and we do not have any confrontations, thank goodness. I think I would be in serious trouble if my dogs tried to beat up Remington even though I get the impression that Remi could more than hold her own.

Back in the RV, I finished putting everything away and we went out walking. With the walking and the store, we covered 2-5 miles for the day.

I sat and finished the blog predicting what might happen in the few hours left in the day. I can always make the corrections if I am way off.

Living in an RV                       Henly RV Park                        Sunday, January 7

I awoke to find that it was still dark out and knew that it was definitely not time for me to get up. I rolled over and went back to sleep in the hope that I would wake up at a more reasonable hour. Who wants to get up when it is still dark if you don’t have to?

Of course, going back to sleep just meant that I would wake up late although I really do not know what “late” is either. If we have nothing pressing or planned is there a set time one must roll out of bed?

Of course, we did eventually get up and we were not too late by our standards, somewhere around 8:30 am. As usual, the first thing was to walk the dogs and bring out the bird hangers. We have no particular order for these to occur and a lot depends on whether the feeders need refilling. This morning, they did not so they came out first and then we walked. We hit the outside road of which there are four. They all go in different directions and consequently, are subject to the wind depending on which direction it is blowing. What also makes a difference is if the sun is shining and the shadows cast by it and the trees. I noticed this morning that it was quite a bit cooler in the shade than out in the sun.

For some reason known only to the dogs, they appear to dawdle when we are in the shade as opposed to being in the sun which I could understand if the temperature was very high. We wandered around and managed to cover 1.1 miles on that first walk, making a good start to the day.

Back in The Caboose, I fixed breakfast for us all and then settled down in front of the computer to write the blog. I was pretty well caught up and had no problems in remembering what happened late yesterday and this morning.

With the blog out of the way for a while, I put in a load of laundry and then made the bed this time using the camping sheets that I have. These are colored green and white and have camping displays all over them. This prompted a burst of energy on my part, and I found several other things to do that I had been putting off. Things like putting anti-skid pads under the four small carpets. I had already done this a while back but what happens is the anti-skid part gets covered in dust and dirt and is no longer skid proof, hence having to redo them.

Sandy was going through the motions of a dog that has to “go” so we harnessed up again and wandered around the park. When we got back, I put the dogs back in the RV and then brought in all of the bird feeders. I had received a call from Delores inviting me to join her and Gary to eat Mexican food at a place that has just opened down the street from us. I was more than willing and a bit later, Gary picked me up. He already had Delores on board.

This “new” restaurant was only 5 minutes away from us and we reached it in no time flat. I spent some time making up my mind on what to eat as I was not that hungry, and the plates are usually humongous when they come out. In the end, I settled for a large Taco with the works. It was delicious and just right in size for me. Both Gary and Delores had huge platefuls with all kinds of “stuff” on them. Needless to say, I finished my Taco long before they did their food, so I sat and enjoyed the Brown Ale that I had ordered with the meal.

I wanted to pay for the meal, but Gary got there first and would not let me. Oh well, maybe next time. We drove back to the park, and they let me off in front of my RV. They are a couple of extremely nice, friendly and very helpful people and are very well liked around the park.

We sat and watched a couple of movies which were all farfetched and almost the same in their story. The usual, visitors from another world stuff. I went to bed around 10:00 pm after making it through another hectic??? day.
