The Blog of an Old Man Henly RV Park   Saturday, January 20, 2024

Me in my prime when I was about 20 or so. I had hair back then.

Me today on my 88th birthday. Happy Birthday to me…

As you can see from the pictures, I have not change very much in almost 70 years. Quite obviously, I have grown older and not necessarily much wiser. Luckily, the feebleness of growing old has slowed me down from the idiot I used to be all of those years ago when chasing women and kicking a soccer ball around was my main past time. It was somewhat interrupted by the necessity of having to go to work to support those habits. A lot of that changed when I came over to America when I was 32 years old.

New country, new jobs, new people but I still managed to kick that ball around and played until I was 72 years old and only giving up then because of a knee replacement.

I have been very lucky and made a lot of good friends and had several good jobs, the last of which was as Superintendent of Construction and later, Manager of Planning and Scheduling in The University of Texas at Austin which set me up for a good retirement 22 years later.

All three of my wives left for greener pastures that I hope they found leaving me a Batchelor with absolutely no interest in dating anyone of the opposite sex or even the same sex if it comes to that. Eventually, I sold my house and started RV living travelling for a bit before giving up the travelling part a year or so ago around age 86.

Now, I live at this wonderful campground here in Henly, Texas surrounded by my friends who are always willing to lend a hand if needed as I am for them. I may be old but not yet feeble, thank goodness.

Oh yes, I am looking forward to many more birthdays.
