I had a bit of a restless night because the heating unit that has been giving me problems decided to continue to do so and fired up in the early morning hours blasting me wide awake like a shot from a gun. It was really loud and noisy, but I decided to roll over and see what happens. I put my head under the covers to shield me from the noise of the fan motor until I could stand it no longer when I got up. It was around 4:30 am and the fan had been blasting away for more than an hour already which of course, had kept me wide awake.
I got up and threw on some clothes all the time hearing the literal roar of the fan and looked to see what I could do, which was not very much. As far as I could see, I had two choices and they were to listen to the noise or try to turn the fan off altogether which meant losing the heating system. In the end, that was what I managed to do.
I got out my two portable heating units and set them up. They would keep the temperature at least above freezing. The early morning sun was also a big help as it shone into the RV.
I managed to doze off as the morning rolled around but was still very conscience of all of the noise. We went out walking mainly because it was much quieter walking around the park than listening to the fan.
I had an appointment with my Dentist and jumped in the Jeep to make the drive into Austin. My original Dentist had long retired and most of the work was done by others. The ladies of the Staff remembered me and gave me lots of hugs which really made the trip worthwhile. I spent almost two hours in the chair as they worked on cleaning my teeth, I have to go back May 21st as there is one tooth that might need additional treatment. The Dentist Office is right in the middle of downtown Austin and was a hair razing trip and I am glad I don’t have to make that trip very often.
The drive home was uneventful, and I stopped for a Latte along the way. I got a warm welcome from the dogs when I got home, and they demanded to go walking which we did.
The afternoon and evening were passed in the usual way.
Living in an RV Henly RV Park Friday 01/16/2025
I felt no worse for the actions of the previous night even though, I had been awake since about 3:00 am. I haven’t been up that early since I don’t know when and I am sure, the dogs were really wondering what was going on. It was a nice bright, sunny day and I could feel the warmth of the sun through the RV windows as we went out for that first walk of the day.
We wandered around the park but didn’t get to meet up with any of my neighbors. My leg felt a lot better and only twinged occasionally, so I didn’t mind walking.
Then, it was back indoors to work on the blog. The fan unit was switched off as it was bright and sunny outside. The wind had dropped and it has the makings of a fine day.
I worked on the blog and brought us up to date which wasn’t hard as nothing had happened so far. I really do lead a dull and boring life, but I like it that way.
I took the dogs out again and noticed that Peggys car was parked by The Commons so I took the dogs back home and wandered over to spend some time with Peggy. I knew that BJ was at work so she would be alone. We sat and chatted for an hour or so before I took my leave back to my RV.
The day passed as they always do. We would all be in big trouble if they didn’t…We went out for that final walk and then it was back to the RV for the evening and to shut up the outside shop.
Incidentally, James told me that the bird feeders are one of the causes of my rat problem and that I shouldn’t feed the birds except by using seed cakes that do not drop seed all over the place. I bring them in at night anyway. Pity as I really enjoyed watching the birds although I do have four seed feeders that hang two in the trees and two off the deck which I will still keep.
The rest of the day passed in the usual way with dog walks and a lot of sitting around listening to an Audiobook for a bit before turning on a good movie on the idiot box.
