I sat here for a long long while 
hoping my brain would adjust to the style 
of writing a poem that I was in need 
to fill my quota but how to proceed 
for I had no poetry in my brain 
no words of wisdom to explain 
nothing to say no words to respond 
not a thing here that would belong 
on this page along with the rest 
some of which is my very best 
so instead of a rhyme to pass the day 
no words of wisdom that I can say 
I will sign off and the reason why 
although I tried it just would not fly 
and so dear reader I gave it my best 
but obviously I must give it a rest 
and write a verse on a different day 
when my brain works in a better way.
