Hoorah he cried as he saw the rain 
striking patterns on his window pane 
hoping that it would last a while 
and that it would make us smile 
for rainy days are not the norm 
which is why we get so forlorn 
with day after day of blazing heat 
and a cloudy day would be a treat 
two hundred and fifty days a year 
the sun shines bright and the sky is clear 
with temperatures of one hundred degrees 
we will certainly not freeze 
and in truth when it does get cold 
we think of the summer and our thoughts unfold 
to those temperatures of 100 degrees
