When I used to have Fishponds.

I got up at 7:00 am because I knew that Malinda was going to stop by and look at my taxes. For some reason, I have not received a couple of W2’s for the past year and I need them to complete the package to drop off at H&R Block.

We did the usual morning thing of bird feeders and then went for that first walk and managed to cover 7/10 of a mile. It was a beautiful sunny morning with a slight breeze, and it was going to be a fine day. I only saw one other dog walker at that early hour, and we let them pass around the building before we moved on.

For such small dogs, mine are very noisy when they see another dog that they do not know. They jump into the leash, and I am quite sure would go after whatever they were barking at it they could. Pretty stupid really as usually, the other dogs are the really big ones and would eat mine up. Maybe, mine figure that it is two against one which evens up the odds!

It was getting close to 9:00 am so I packed everything up and traipsed over to the Commons where I was scheduled to meet Malinda. I set up the computer and she walked in. From there on out, I got a lesson in how to make a computer talk and give up its information and secrets as she very skillfully worked her magic. I thought that I knew my way around computers, but she puts me to shame.

We spent an hour digging out bits and pieces and getting one lead after another. I also discovered a few things like the fact that my Beneficiary was still my last wife that I had divorced in 1992. Need to change that as I do not want her to inherit anything unless there are any debts that I may leave…

Eventually, we concluded that all that remains is a trip to the Social Security office to get that straightened out and Malinda mentioned she was going into town later and for us to prepare a document that would prove who she was making the changes for.

I thanked her over and over until she must have been sick of my appreciation.

I walked back to my RV carrying the computer followed by Malinda who again worked her magic and put together a letter for me to sign complete with a picture of my Driver’s License. She mentioned that she was going into town later and would take the document into the proper office.

Throughout this whole thing, I was very aware that my own brain was not very sharp anymore and I was having recall problems. It was patchy though as some things I had no trouble, others not so good. Old age is definitely catching up with me, at least brain wise.

She left and I worked on the blog and brought it up to date and then sat there thinking about the future. All the time, I have friends like Malinda and Daniel, I should be OK living on my own for a couple more years. After that, who knows.

We sat around for most of the afternoon after going out for a noonday walk which by itself is unusual for us. Normally it is morning and then late afternoon. When we got back, we sat on the deck and watched the world go by although there was not a great deal of activity. So far today, we have covered 1.7 miles.

Today, for whatever reason, is the slowest day I can ever remember. I think time is travelling backwards as every time I look up, it has hardly advanced at all. Either that or it is standing still. I suppose the good thing about that is that life is passing by much slower than it normally does. I wonder why some days just fly by and others take forever.

We went out for another walk but did not go far, just walking around the park and then returned to sit on the deck. It had gotten windier as the evening drew in, so we adjourned indoors for a bit until I received a message from the girls telling me to “come over” which of course, I did.

We sat outside for a while just chatting and drinking beer. Well, Peggy did most of the chatting while BJ and I just listened. Peggy does have some interesting stories and is a good storyteller, which made it amusing. Then someone suggested we go inside as it was starting to cool down quite a bit and we gathered our things and did just that.

They both had things to chat about as did I and we spent another hour doing that until I decided that I should go back to my RV. There, I fed the dogs but unknowingly forgot to bring in the bird feeders.

The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way until I awoke with a start after falling asleep in my chair watching a soccer game. We immediately went to bed as another day in dreamland came to an end.
