Living In An RV

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Thursday 11/20/2025 (D)

    November 27th, 2025

I got up around the usual time and the first thing after attending to my morning ablutions was to take the dogs out walking. For once. Summer was almost ready to go without a lot of encouragement from me and was actually awake. Normally, I have to wake her up.

We wandered around the park with real emphasis on “wander”. Sandy was having one of her moody days and kept stopping and digging in. I tried changing direction several times and that helped a lot. She sure does have a mind of her own, that one and if she doesn’t want to go somewhere, short of literally dragging her along, she just won’t go. Stubborn little bitch…

Back in the RV, I fixed breakfast and then sat down to work on the blog. I glanced at the clock which told me that it was already 2:00 pm as time flies on by.

I spent the rest of the afternoon sitting around and listening to an Audiobook

I happened to mention to my good Friend, Delores while we were sitting and drinking beer at her place later that evening that I was out of toothpaste and would need to make that trip into town. The next thing I knew was a brand new tube of toothpaste being handed to me. I thanked her profusely as it just saved me that trip. Not that I mind the occasional trip into Dripping Springs or at a push, even into Austin but if I don’t have to, so much the better.

We spent most of the day either working on the blog, dog walking, or just sitting around listening to an Audiobook

Living in an RV Henly RV Park Friday 11/21/2025

I had a very good nights sleep and only had to get up and “go” twice which is pretty good for this old man. When morning came, for me, it is usually around 9:00 am although today it was almost 10:00 am, I crawled out and hitched up the dogs ready to go walking. Even Summer was awake and ready to go which makes a change. We did our usual walking around although everybody else had long gone back inside.

Back in the RV, I fixed myself breakfast and a small taster for each dog and then settled down to work on the blog. I completed yesterday and started work on today.

It was a cloudy day and there was a chance of rain in the forecast. I will believe that when we actually have a good downpour. At least, it was a bit cooler which we discovered as we walked. When we got back indoors, it came on to rain so our timing was good.

The day passed slowly and the much needed rain continued and we sat around listening to an Audiobook. The rain eased up and we were able to go out walking around the park. When we got back, I put away the bird feeders as another day came to an end.

I fed us and then we sat and watched TV for the rest of the evening.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Wednesday 11/19/2025

    November 26th, 2025

I slept well after drinking beer with Delores last evening although did I have several calls of Nature because of it. Still, I managed to drop off to sleep each time and felt refreshed when I finally crawled out of bed which, by the way, was so warm and snuggly with Mikey as my own personal hot water bottle.. We got up around 9:00 am which seems to be the time my body has chosen as “Get the hell out of bed” time.

Summer was fast asleep in one of her special places so I decided that Mikey and I would leave her sleeping as we went to go walking. We hit the grass and Mikey peed for at least 5 minutes, well OK, a long time and in that time Summer appeared on the deck giving me a look that said, “Your not getting away with leaving me behind”.

I harnessed her up and then the three of us went walking around the park. We were a little later than usual so we didn’t see any other dog walkers which was OK as it prevents any confrontations. Most walkers look far ahead and are ready to make a U turn if one is required as nobody wants their dog to get into it with another one.

Back at the RV, I fixed breakfast for all of us although I didn’t eat cold chicken like the dogs ate. I warmed up a breakfast package for myself and the all important coffee which filled the spot.

Then, I settled down to play catch up with the blog although I was only one day behind. I managed to remember what had happened yesterday and recalled the fact that we ended up drinking beer. The “We” in this case was my good friend, Delores. I glanced at the clock and it was already almost 2:00 pm as the time rushes on by along with what is left of my life.

We went out for another walk. This one dubbed the Mail Run as we head up to the office to my mail box just in case I have anything important that will take up some more of my time. Not that I have to be busy or doing something all of the time. I am quite happy listening to an Audiobook or even just sitting on the couch with the dogs. In fact, I have turned into a real lazy bum…

The day came to a close when I brought in the bird feeders and put everything away and shutting up the outside shop. Back indoors, I fed my furry friends and looked around for something that might be appetizing enough for me to eat. I settled on a frozen dinner which actually tasted pretty good.

I watched television until midnight and then we all crawled into bed. Well, all of us except Summer who likes to sleep in the kitchen section by herself. Incidentally, last night I put her on the bed along with me and Mikey and she snuggled up just like she was going to sleep. The minute I turned the light off, she hopped down on the floor and found her own hidey hole for the rest of the night. She really is one strange little girl.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Tuesday 11/18/2025

    November 25th, 2025

When I awoke this morning, the first thing that I noticed was that my right foot that had been giving me so much trouble was feeling a lot better. Enough that I was able to take that first walk of the day along with Mikey and Summer. We wandered around but as we had gotten up really late, like 10:00 am late, did not get to see anyone else. Most of the dog walkers get up at a reasonable hour and are not lazy bums like me. A lot of that depends on the dogs habits and whether the dog can “hold it” for 12-14 hours.

We walked around the park and my ankle, although still a bit sore, held up OK for which I was very grateful. Back in the RV, I fixed breakfast for me and made sure the dogs had hard food, which they did in abundance. They get their main meal this evening this evening although Summer is such a piglet, she is always looking for a hand out.

I sat and brought the blog up to date. It was a cloudy overcast sort of a day but it didn’t look like rain, just grey clouds. I looked at the clock and it said that it was 1:00 pm. We didn’t have anything planned for the day except maybe a trip into town grocery shopping.

We went out for another walk which is my way of passing the time. The dogs have very little say in the matter but so far, no one has complained about going out for walkies…We wandered around going nowhere in particular..

I was sitting outside listening to an Audiobook when my very good friend Delores popped her head over one of the deck gates. She explained, “I have brought beer” as though it was the magic password to get up on the deck which of course, it was. I invited her in and both dogs including Summer, made a big fuss of her. When I was ill a while back, she dogsat the guys for my short stay in hospital although there was no Summer then as Sandy was still alive. Mikey immediately made a big fuss of her and Summer sensing she had a new friend joined Mikey in making the fuss.

We sat on the deck for an hour or so enjoying each others company and the beer with Summer sitting on Delores lap until Delores proclaimed that she was going home and walked off to her RV which is right next to mine up the hill.

I brought in the bird feeders after taking the dogs out walking for the last walk of the day. Back indoors, I fed the dogs and then myself and watched a movie on the TV until it was time to go to bed.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Monday 11/17/2025

    November 24th, 2025

How does that song go? “Summertime, and the living is easy”. That’s how it is for us most of the time. Very occasionally, something of importance pops up but most of the time, it is very easy living.

I slept late and for whatever reason, did not want to get out of bed. In the end, Mikey reminded me that “I gotta go, Dad” and I quickly put on some clothes and we headed out of the door. As we usually do, we just wandered around as distance is not as important as being able to pee. For the dog, that is. Not for me…We covered one lap around the Commons and down to the bottom entrance before following the outside road back up to the top of hill to come in the main entrance.

I found something for me to eat and of course, the all important coffee to start the day off right then settled down to write the blog. Luckily, I was only a day behind and it didn’t take long to bring us up to date. Not that anything of any importance had happened yet.

I thought about the day ahead and decided that I probably should go shopping to get a few necessities. Still no hurry on that as I had the rest of the day with nothing else planned.

As we usually do, we sat and listened to an Audiobook and then dog walking to give my little buddies some exercise. I needed it as well as the dogs and with all of the sitting around, more now than ever. We were sitting outside listening to the Audiobook and I didn’t realize how dark it had gotten. I still had to bring in the bird feeders and turned the outside canopy lights on so that I could see what I was doing.

With the outside chores taken care of for one more day, we adjourned inside for the evening meal and watching TV. We never did go shopping…Oh well!

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Sunday 11/16/2025

    November 23rd, 2025

I awoke and instead of jumping out of bed full of vim and vinegar, I lay there for a while just thinking of days gone by and those ahead. Somehow, I had managed to get the blog all messed up with many pages out of sequence. It bothered me that I had done that and try as I might. could not come up with any reason to have messed things up so badly. I had already made the decision not to try to straighten things out as it was not worth the trouble. I have less than a dozen followers that bother to read the blog and the only person I need to impress is me. Basically, I keep the blog to give my brain some activity and it sure has been getting a lot of that these past few days. Most of the time, I just moan and complain and ignore the screw ups. Besides, I live such a repetitive life nothing much changes on a daily basis. I could just write, “Same as yesterday” on most days although occasionally something is different.

I took the dogs out walking and we just wandered around the park. I was ready to go on walking but Summer quickly brought me to my senses by stopping and refusing to go in the direction I wanted to go. When Mikey joined her in the protest, I changed directions and headed for the RV which pleased Summer no end.

Back in the RV, I fixed myself a bowl of corn flakes and the dogs got to lick the bowl clean. Well Summer did. Mikey turned his nose up at the milk so it wasn’t wasted.

I sat and worked on the blog bringing us up to date. I had done a good job yesterday and was only a day behind which is about the extent of my memory recall. With the blog all caught up, I sat there thinking about the day ahead and wondering what, if anything, I should be doing for the rest of it.

In the end, I could not come up with anything of any importance that needed my attention and so we spent the rest of the day listening to an Audiobook and dog walking.

The phone rang and it was Peggy inviting me over to drink a glass (or two) of wine. I harnessed up the dogs and we walked to where the girls now have their RV which is on the very last row at the bottom of the park and further to walk than where they original were parked. I forgot to mention that they sold their RV as they already had their Motorhome and they plan on living in it until their property is finished. They plan on moving as soon as it is ready to live in probably at the end of the year. That means that I will only see them very occasionally in the future. I should mention that they have offered me a spot on the property if I want it and the jury is still out on whether I move or not. I have nothing keeping me here except my friendship with Delores. One park is pretty much the same as the next one.

We sat and drank wine and enjoyed each other’s company and before long, it was dark. Summer had attached herself to Peggy and they cuddled each other for the entire time we were there. I decided that I should walk back home to the RV and Peggy let me borrow a flashlight. That was after I discouraged her from walking me home. I gotta remember to carry a flashlight with me at all times just in case a drinking offer pops up or come to that, anything pops up. Incidentally, when I got back I had to bring in the bird feeders which was no trouble as I turned on the RV’s outside lights and had all the light I needed.

When I re-read the last paragraph, it came across that we are a bunch of alcoholics and nothing is further from the truth. When we get together, we nearly always share a drink, usually a glass or two of wine but none of us except that one time when the girls had to put me to bed, drink excessively.

We sat and watched the TV until around 11:00 pm when all three of us went to bed. I put Summer on the bed and watched as she climbed off it and disappeared into the living room to her own hidey hole. She is definitely different.

    And so ended another day.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Saturday 11/15/2025

    November 22nd, 2025

It was a dull, grey morning when I got up around 8:00 am. I poked my head out of the door just to take a closer look at the weather but even as I did, the sun was beginning to break through the clouds and it looks like it will be another fine, sunny day.

I threw on some clothes after taking a shower which really woke me up, harnessed up the dogs and out the door we went. Sandy, at first, was very reluctant to walk and I had to put pressure on her leash to get her moving but after a bit, she walked along willingly enough, We made one circuit around the park before heading back to the RV where Delores was waiting for me.

She had come over to borrow some tools as she was working on her ex- husbands RV. He had a sewer blockage of some sort or another. He is not in the best of health and needed help and she was kind enough to do just that for him. Later on, she returned the tools and mentioned that it is going to have to wait until James, the RV Repair man can work on it as the blockage was more than she could clear.

I fixed myself breakfast and made sure that the dogs had hard food in their bowls and then settled down to write the blog. While I was at it, I took another look at the scheduling mess that I had created in the previous episodes and decided that rather than trying to fix it, I was just going to let it play out. It’s not like it is hurting anyone with the blog pages out of sequence and by moving on, it gives me the opportunity to get things back into some sort of order. I only have a couple of followers anyway and they are probably my closest friends and they probably read the blog just in case I say something funny or bad about them.

With the latest mess that I created with the blog being out of order, it got me thinking as to why do I bother to write anyway. I can probably count the number of readers on one hand and it’s not like there is much to write about as one day is pretty much the same as the previous one and the next. I try and kid myself that at least, I am creating some brain activity which is always a good thing and that part is probably true.

On one of our walks, I ran into Peggy and she invited us over for a couple of beers. I followed her over to her RV which she and BJ use as a travelling rig but has now become their permanent one. They have sold their Park RV to of all people, Delores ex husband who has just moved in. He is not in the best of health and Delores has been working on his RV for him.

We sat outside drinking wine with Mikey on my lap and Summer on Peggy’s and chatted the evening away. Then it was time for the dogs and I to go back to our RV and I had to turn the outside lights on in order to bring in the bird feeders, it was that dark.

With everything put away, we sat and watched TV for a bit before heading off to bed as another day came to an end.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Friday 11/14/2025

    November 21st, 2025

I got up early as I had an appointment in town to drop the dogs off at the Groomers. The drive in was uneventful with Mikey sitting on my lap and Summer in the other seat. Mikey knew something was up because they haven’t been on any car rides since we got Summer three weeks ago. As usual, Mikey went nuts crying and barking when I handed him over but quite obviously, the groomer was well used to that sort of behaviour from dogs as she just handled it and put him in the cage along with Summer. I got out of there as fast as I could trying very hard not to hear Mikey’s plaintive cries as I walked out and feeling like a jerk for leaving him.

Instead of driving straight home, I drove back into town with the idea that a Latte would hit the spot but when I arrived at Starbucks, the line was so long it almost came back out onto the road. I gave up on the Latte idea and made the drive home. It was strangely quiet when I opened the door with the dogs at the groomers and I missed them already.

I made a Latte of my own and then settled down to play catch up with the blog as I waited for the call telling me to come and pick up my buddies. Two hours later, I got that call and made my way back into town to pick them up. Even Summer was pleased to see me. She especially looked very sharp and I could actually see her little face. Definitely money well spent.

We made the drive home and went out for a short walk so they could stretch their little legs after being cooped up all of that time. When we got back, both of them were tired after all of the excitement and quickly found their spots and dropped off to sleep.

I spent some time talking to Delores. She no longer was dog sitting Remington having taken him back this morning as Daniel and Malinda had returned from their trip.

I sat working on the blog and brought us up to date and when I glanced at the clock, it said that it was 2:00 pm as the time flew on by. We have no plans for the rest of the day although Delores did say that she would be over with beer, later on. Way to go, Delores.

MY APOLOGIES FOR HOW MUCH OUT OF ORDER THESE PAST FEW DAYS THE BLOG HAS BEEN. I PROMISE TO GET BETTER AND GET THEM IN THE PROPER ORDER ASAP.

    November 20th, 2025

Following my trip to Best Buy in Bee Caves to get the computer repaired, when I got back and after taking the dogs out walking, I sat down and tried to play catch up with the blog. The old brain ain’t what it used to be and recall is no longer one of my strong points although I am still pretty good at remembering anything within the past 30 minutes…

I struggled on the memory thing wondering what the hell I was doing two days ago and finally gave it up as a bad job.

Consequently, this is all of the blog that I am writing for today

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Wednesday 10/30/2024

    November 19th, 2025

It was one of those strange nights where I slept for a bit and then lay awake for a while before sleeping again and then of course, not wanting to get up. I eventually rolled out around 9:00 am sort of ready to face another day and the challenges it may bring. Again, we have nothing planned except to walk the dogs as much as possible. What’s good for the dogs is also very good for me as it is very easy to sit around and do nothing.

My foot was still very sore and felt worse than it did yesterday. I have no idea what I did to it to make it hurt so bad. Still, the dogs needs had to be taken care of and after harnessing up, we visited the dog park. Sandy did her usual run around and sniff and pee a lot while Mikey sniffed but only at anything within 6 feet from me. He is really protective.

We continued with our walk around the park and then returned to The Caboose for breakfast. Mine consisted of two slices of toast, one with marmalade and the other peanut butter as I still haven’t located any Marmite yet.

Then it was blog time and I spent the next hour catching up with yesterday and today. It takes a lot of effort on my part to remember what happened yesterday or the day before that. Still, as any readers I may have trust my word, they have no way of contradicting me.

The day was another typical lazy day with nothing planned. I looked around for things to do and found a couple that needed my attention but that didn’t last long before I was looking around again. In the end, we just sat around listening to an Audiobook.

Then came the last walk of this day and we shut shop and adjourned indoors for the evening.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Thursday 11/13/2025

    November 18th, 2025

I was still having trouble with organizing the blog and spent time working on it. To anyone out there that actually follows the blog, my apologies for the total disorder of these past couple of days. Hopefully, the computer problems are fixed and we can continue in the proper order.

The day started as it it normally does with the dogs taking me out for the first walk of the day. We just wandered around the park but we didn’t meet any other campers walking their dogs which is unusual as normally, there is always somebody out walking.

Back in the RV, I did the usual morning chores and then fixed myself breakfast of corn flakes which I shared with the dogs who, as they normally do, turned their combines noses up at such an offering.

Then, I sat down in front of the computer to play catch up which didn’t take long as I was only a day behind and have finally got the blogs back in some sort of order after the computer screwed things up.

I decided to go grocery shopping and after saying goodbye to my little buddies, I hopped in the Jeep to the HEB in Dripping Springs. There, I wandered around finding the few things that were on my list.

The drive home was just like all of the other trips that I have made and without incident. I got home to a very warm welcome and even Summer seemed pleased to see me. Mikey, of course, went nuts as he usually does.

We went out walking as we do and wandered around the camp grounds before bringing in the bird feeders for the night.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Tuesday 11/11/25

    November 17th, 2025

I got up earlier than normal as I wanted to go to Best Buy to try to get my computer straightened out. I didn’t bother with breakfast and chose instead to make the drive to the closest Best Buy which was about 25 miles away. When I arrived, there appeared to be a long waiting list but I didn’t have to wait too long before it was my turn.

The young man that was helping me certainly knew computers and it wasn’t long before he had it up and running again. He gave me a list of things I needed to do. I thanked him profusely and gathered up my things and walked back to the car. Apparently in my haste to get out of there, I left the mouse behind which I didn’t find out until I got home. I debated on going back but as I had another mouse, decided against it.

I messed around with the computer for a while and was able to write the blog although not able to post it. I gave it up as a bad job and went out dog walking instead. At least, that is something I can do without needing instructions.

When we got back, I spent time working on the computer a bit but in the end, gave it up in frustration. The rest of the day was spent in the usual way with dog walking and such.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Monday 11/10/25

    November 16th, 2025

I got up around the usual hour and took the dogs out walking. I knew I had a busy day ahead with the blog all messed up and I was determined to do my best to straighten it out.

Still, the blog could not interfere with our usual morning ritual and so I harnessed up and we all went out walking. I am not sure that Summer gets any enjoyment out of it as she seems to make hard work of it. She has this habit of stopping and I have to pull her very hard to get her moving again. In the meantime, Mikey is dashing around exploring all of the wonderful smells. I’m quite sure that he hasn’t figured her out yet, either.

Back at the RV, I fed us all breakfast which of course, Summer just loves. She likes food, so what can I say?

I said goodbye to the dogs and hopped in the Jeep for the 25 mile drive to the closest Best Buy. There, I joined a long line of customers all with some complaint or other regarding their computers. The line moved quickly and then I was working with a young man who, after I explained the problem worked on the computer. He had the magic touch as it started working again. I thanked him and made the drive home. When I got there, I realized that I had left the mouse at the computer store but decided to wait until tomorrow before going to pick it up.

I still had some work to do on completing the computer repair and spent time on it and then worked on the blog.

The rest of the day was spent in the usual way.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Sunday 11/09/25

    November 15th, 2025

It was a cool morning as the temperature dropped overnight to as low as 46 degrees. The high today is only supposed to reach 66 degrees, a major change from the past couple of months. I had to put a jacket on when we went out walking the park, it was that cool and I was glad of it.

Summer had on one of her, “I don’t want to wake up” moods so I harnessed up Mikey and he and I went out walking leaving her asleep on the floor. We made one circuit around the RV and then we went back to see if she was awake. This time she was sort of awake enough that I could put her harness on and she followed Me and Mikey out the door. Once she got into the swing of things, she trotted along bringing up the rear as she always does.

On our first attempt at walking, Mikey and I wandered around the park and the only person we saw was Noel and his dog, Murphy. Noel asked about Summer and I explained that she was still asleep and hadn’t woken up with the rest of us which amused him to no end.

Back in the RV, I fixed breakfast for myself of a package deal that had appealed to me when I saw it at the grocery store. I heated it up but as most of that type of breakfast does, really didn’t care for it that much. I offered it to the dogs and they both sampled it and walked away in disgust. Oh Well!

I sat and worked on the blog for a while, enough to bring us up to date and then wondered about the rest of the day.

Apologies that the blogs are all messed up

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Saturday 11/08/25

    November 14th, 2025

I slept very well and was ready to get up around 8:00 am. I crawled out and harnessed up the dogs and out the door we went. I have cut back a little on how many feeders are out as there are very few birds to eat the seed. Instead, I am going more and more to seed cakes as they are easier and quicker to handle. We do still have seed feeders hanging in the trees and off the deck but they are bigger containers and last longer.

Delores came over with Remington on a leash. She is dog sitting Remi as Melinda and Daniel are away on a trip. Remi made a big fuss of me and he and my dogs sort of made friendly gestures towards each other. He is such a sweet little dog. Just don’t cross him…

Delores left and I wandered back to the RV after finishing our walk and fed the dogs their breakfast. Then I found something for me to eat and started work on the blog. It was a beautiful sunny day with absolutely no wind whatsoever. Everything was so quiet and still. We have no plans or appointments for the day.

With nothing of any importance on the agenda, most of the day was spent dog walking and lounging around listening to an Audiobook.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Wednesday 11/12/2025

    November 13th, 2025

I got up at a reasonable hour and harnessed up the dogs for the first walk of the day. We just wandered around as we usually do although we never go very far. Once around The Commons is usually enough. That gives them a chance to do their business and stretch their legs.

Back in the RV, I fed myself breakfast and the all important coffee. The dogs always have hard food available and they get their real meal late in the afternoon.

I had to drive back into Austin to the Best Buy Store so I could pick up the mouse that I had left there by mistake.. I walked in and they located it for me. I thanked them profusely and walked out ready to make the drive back home.

The dogs were pleased to see me and we went out for a short walk before retiring back indoors to play catch up with the blog. It wa 4:00 pm by the time I had things straightened out. At least, I hope they are.

We went out for another walk around the park and just wandered around going no place in particular. This was mainly to give the dogs some exercise but it was good for me to walk as well. When we got back, I brought in the feeders as another day came to an end.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Friday 11/07/25

    November 13th, 2025

I had another one of those restless nights and couldn’t wait for morning to come. I got up earlier than I usually do and we went out walking around the park, It was another beautiful sunny day with very little wind so I brought out the awning to keep the inside of the RV better shaded than what the trees give us. I just have to remember to bring it back in if we leave the Park for any reason other than dog walking especially if it is a cloudy day just in case. Having already had two awning replacements, I don’t need that expense again.

We wandered around as we always do and the dogs found a whole bunch of new and interesting smells to start their day. Me, I couldn’t smell anything any different than yesterday or the day before but then again, I am not a dog.

Back at the RV, I fixed the dogs their breakfast and then found something for me to eat. That and the coffee and I was ready for whatever the day would bring and to face it. We had no plans but I really do need to go to HEB for some groceries.

I decided there was no time like the present as I put both dogs inside the RV so that I could go into town and do some shopping. That is, if you can call a trip in to buy those tiny bottles of wine that I like so much, shopping. Of course, the wine was not all I bought as I did buy food as well for both me and the dogs.

I got all kinds of help unloading and putting away the groceries and as a reward, took the dogs out for another walk. Outside, I met Delores who had been away but was back along with Remington, Daniel and Malinda’s dog who she was dog sitting as they went on a cruise. Remi is such a sweet little dog and knows who his friends are and always makes a fuss of them.

Delores came over with Remington on a leash. Delores is dog sitting Remi as Melinda and Daniel are away on a trip.

We wandered around going nowhere in particular and found that Delores and Remi had made their way over to The Girls used to be, RV where her ex-husband was now staying. Both He and Delores along with Remington were sitting outside so the dogs and I walked over to sit with them for a bit. He seems like an OK guy and it is kinda neat that he and Delores are still friends so I guess the marriage wasn’t all bad.

We finished our walk and went back to the RV and sat outside for a bit, me with my usual tiny bottle of wine

I sat around listening to an Audiobook and then it was time to bring in the bird feeders as the day came to an end. It seemed like it was getting darker much earlier and then I remembered that the clocks had been adjusted this week for daylight savings time and with it, we had lost an hour of daylight.

So now I have a choice. Get up around 9:00 am as I have been doing these past few months and have a shorter day or, get up earlier around at least 7:30 to have about the same length day. Hmmn, gotta really think about that one.

I sat and worked on the blog and brought us up to date by finishing off yesterday and starting today.

We went out for the final walk of the day and just wandered around before returning to the RV. It was already getting dark when I brought in the bird feeders and closed up the outside shop for the day. Then it was time to feed the dogs and then myself as we watched TV.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Thursday 11/06/25

    November 12th, 2025

I had a restless nights sleep and was awake for some of it for no particular reason. I tossed and turned and Mikey kept edging further and further away as I was disturbing him, poor little guy.

I have tried to get Summer to sleep with us but after I put her on the bed, she waits a while and after all of the lights are turned off, sneaks back down on the floor to one of her many hidey holes. She is not very sociable unless it suits her. Typical woman…

In the morning when Mikey and I are getting ready to go out, I have the hardest time to get Summer to even wake up let alone put on a harness to go walkies. When we eventually end up outside after much pulling and pushing from me, she drags along behind and even stops in place and digs in determined not to go on. Eventually, she starts to move and we are able to make some progress walking. Mikey, of course, is tugging at the leash and ready to go until even he gives up, deferring to Summers wishes.

I sat and thought about the day ahead wondering just what we might get up to. Maybe, a trip into town? The more I thought about it, all it did was make me realize that I really didn’t need anything that would not keep to another day. So with the shopping trip out of the window, I looked around for something else to do and as usual, resorted to listening to an Audiobook.

I was sitting on the deck well engrossed in the story when the dogs started barking and Peggy was standing on the steps. She sat with me and the dogs making a fuss of Summer. I brought out the wine not for any other reason than it is thirsty work, talking…We chatted for an hour or so and she left to go back to her RV.

We went out walking for the final walk of the day and then adjourned back inside the RV to watch TV.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Wednesday 11/05/25

    November 11th, 2025

I awoke early and almost made the mistake of getting up but managed to come to my senses and rolled over and went back to sleep. I have this unwritten rule never to get up before 9;00 am unless I have an appointment or something special going on. My onboard clock knows this and most of the time does the right thing but occasionally slips up.

First thing of course, was to take the dogs out walking after a long night of “holding it”. We wandered around and then, when we got back, brought out the bird feeders. I filled one of the tree hanging ones as it was getting low. Gotta be the squirrels as it is too high in the tree for the deer to reach it. Actually, the number of birds that visit has really dropped. My guess is those that fly off every season have already gone and those that are left are the permanent ones. We will keep feeding them every day as I always do. I have made one change to how we feed them and have cut back on the number of seed feeders and gone to the seed cakes kind as they are a bit easier to take care of.

I glanced at the clock and it told me that half the day has already gone as it said that the time was 11:55 am. We have nothing planned for the day and it will comprise of dog walking and a lot of lounging around. What a life…

The day slipped on by and we broke the monotony by going out walking around the park until, eventually, it was time to bring in the feeders as another day came to an end.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Tuesday 11/04/25

    November 10th, 2025

I awoke early for me, and lay there wondering if I should get up. It didn’t take very long to decide to stay in bed which we did for a while. When I finally did wake up crawl out, something was bothering me but I had no idea what it was. Then The Girls drew up outside the RV and I remembered that we were supposed to be going to their property. We agreed that I will go next time as I still had to walk the dogs.

The girls drove off and we went out walking the park. There was a bit of a chill in the air just to remind us that it is now November and that winter is on the way. Most winters here in my part of Texas are pretty mild with the occasional frost and sometimes even snow but the bad weather doesn’t usually last very long.

I received a call from my Doctors Office asking me to set up my annual physical which I did. It is scheduled for January with my long time Doctor who I thought had retired. I will find out when I visit him in January.

The rest of the day was like most of the others that preceded it, sitting around listening to an Audiobook or walking the dogs. I really do have a lazy life…

Delores brought my car back as hers was ready for pick up which she and her Son did between them. It had a full tank of gas and had been washed. A man couldn’t ask for more than that.

  • Living in an RV Henly RV Park Monday 11/03/25

    November 9th, 2025

I woke up early and instead of snuggling back under the covers, I decided to get up as today, I need to drive into Austin to return the equipment. Time is running out on the return…

I took the dogs out walking and we just wandered around the park as we usually do, not in any hurry and getting nowhere fast. It was a bright, sunny day and we met a couple of others also walking there dogs and as we usually do, walked away from them as Mikey is always too ready to get into a growling and barking match with any other dog unless he knows them.

We made a couple of circuits around the park and then got back to bring out the bird feeders. Delores had brought back the Jeep so I said goodbye to the dogs and hopped in it for the drive into Austin to return the piece of equipment that had shown up in my mail and that I had not ordered. I had been in contact with the group that sent it to me and told them that I wanted to return it. They sent me instructions on where to go and what to do.

The drive in was uneventful and the return went by without incident. Even though we were in Austin, I had no plans to do any other shopping and made the 30 odd mile trip back to Henly to be met by the dogs who demanded that we go out walkies.

We were sitting outside after having returned from our walk when Delores popped her head around the corner with a couple of beers each, in hand. A most welcome sight indeed both Delores and the beer. We sat and chatted about “stuff” and her trip, her car and when she might get it back. I told her that mine was always available to her.

She left to go back to her RV and we harnessed up for one more walk before bringing in the feeders as the day came to an end
