Even with the shortened night, I awoke wide awake and ready to go. We harnessed up and hit the roads around the park. Then we went outside to Henly Loop and walked towards Hwy 290. We did not go all the way as the sun was already hot and there was not much shade at the top end. We managed to cover 9/10’s of a mile on that first walk.
I fixed breakfast of oatmeal which was a disaster and ended up in the trash bin and made do with a couple of chocolate cookies. I hope the rest of the day improves food wise.
James called me to say he was on the way and today, he is going to change out the board so maybe we will have hot water. We also have another couple of problems that I will have him look at. Always something with an RV.
I moved my car so that James could park his big van closer to the RV and waited for him to arrive, which he eventually did and immediately went to work.
This was by far and away the biggest project he had had to do for me as he was exchanging the complete hot water heater for a whole new unit. He has, in recent months. paid several visits to make repairs but no sooner would he leave, and the damn thing would go out again. James was as frustrated as I was with the whole thing and besides, I was tired of taking cold showers.
There was nothing I could do to be of any help as he spent a great deal of his time lying on the floor with his head and shoulders poked into one of the cabinets as he worked on disconnecting the original unit.
It was like he had two parts to the project as half of the time he was laying on the floor indoors and the other half working through the compartment door outside for which he was able to stand up. One thing I did notice was that the new unit was more compact than the one he removed, which may have helped with the re-installation.
In all this time, as there was nothing I could do to help, I sat on the couch with the dogs away from the action and watched him work.
A couple of nonstop hours later he announced that it was finished, and the water was already heating up. These units run on both propane and electricity. I prefer electric as it is simpler to pay the electric bill than having to make sure there is propane in the tank and all that is involved in changing out empty propane tanks.
I paid his bill and added a bit extra for work well done and he wrapped up his things and went off to work on someone else’s RV.
I didn’t realize it until I saw that both the new and the old unit had 20-gallon tanks attached.
We went out for the last walk of the day and found ourselves over at Cheryl’s RV and at her invitation, sat down and drank a beer with them. Bethany and her daughter were both there and a little later, we were joined by Cheryl’s boyfriend. We sat there chatting before moving on.
Daniel and Malinda were not outside so we did not stop at their RV but continued with our walk eventually ending back up at The Caboose. Altogether, we covered 1.8 miles for the day.
The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way with food and then watching a movie. At least, we went to bed a little earlier than the previous night.
I slept like the proverbial log even after going to bed at a respectable hour and only woke up once for the call of Nature. It was almost 9:30 when we crawled out of bed, so I guess my body needed sleep. It didn’t matter as we have no plans for today.
I jumped into the shower and wallowed in the luxury of having hot water and probably spent more time there than necessary. I dried off and put on some clothes and felt ready to face the day by taking the dogs for a walk.
Prior to and while I was in the shower Sandy had been doing lots of little dances and I surmised that she had to go. She managed to hold it long enough for us to harness up and get off the porch and then she squatted for at least 5 minutes. Well, maybe only 30 seconds but you could almost see her heave a sigh of relief.
We continued with our walk and headed on Henly Loop towards Hwy 290 but only made it 2/3 of the way as we ran out of shade cover. The sun was already very hot, and it was going to be another scorcher of a day.
Back in the RV, I fed the dogs as they always come first and looked around for something to eat for myself. Nothing I looked at was very appealing and I ended up with two slices of toast, one with peanut butter and the other with marmalade. The tea tasted good but this time I cut back on the sugar to one pack instead of two.
I did some housework and then settled down to write the blog and thought about the day ahead. I have no plans except to stay cool. The guy that washes RV’s is supposed to give The Caboose a bath today.
He pulled up with his trailer full of water tanks and such and parked close to the RV. I stayed indoors as he went to work, and I could see water on the windows and hear the high-powered washing as he went about his business.
Altogether it took 3 hours, but I had a nice clean RV. Now if I could just get someone to take care of the inside…
It was late by the time he pulled out and then we went out walking the park. We met a couple of others doing the same thing with their dogs and depending on the dog, made friends or not.
Back in the RV, we settled down for the usual evening’s meal and entertainment.
I did not wake up until 10:00 am. I must have been really tired to sleep so long. Even then, I was in no hurry to get out of bed but eventually did. I splashed cold water on my face which woke me up and was ready to go. I would have taken a shower to do the waking up thing, but I have no hot water again and am not brave enough to take another cold one unless absolutely necessary.
The first thing, as it always is, was to walk the dogs around the park for the usual 0.7 of a mile. That is not a number I pulled out of thin air but is roughly the distance we cover when we walk within the park. It increases when we walk the outside roads.
It was a very cloudy day and when the sun did shine through, it was hot. I was very glad of the cloud cover as were the dogs. Back in the RV, I fed the dogs and neither one would eat the food I put in front of them so either they do not like it or are just not hungry. Ot maybe, both. Incidentally, they always have hard food available in their bowl.
I emailed James, the repair man to give him the bad news that I have no hot water…again. He must be just as frustrated as I am that his repairs do not last. There must be something else causing the problem.
I worked on the blog and brought it up to date. Hard to believe that we are in another new month, the sixth one of the year. So, halfway through.
Daniel called me and we discussed a hitch for the new to me, Jeep, which, unfortunately, does not have one. I do not plan on towing anything, but I do want to replace the carry-all for those moments when I have something to haul from A to B. I went ahead and ordered the part he told me, and it should be here tomorrow. He said that he will put it on for me. Apart from being a very helpful guy, I think he likes the challenge of working on new things.
I looked around for something else to do but could not find anything. With the blog up to date and not needing anything from the store, we went out walking, which is something I can do when I have nothing else going on. We wandered around before returning to The Caboose where I put the dogs indoors.
Then I wandered over to Daniel and Malinda’s RV to join the Girls who were already over there. We sat around talking, eating and drinking for a couple of hours before we each headed back to our respective RV’s.
I got up at a very reasonable hour, for me that is, and the first thing was to bring out the feeders as it usually is. Both big ones were empty and needed filling, which I did before we went walking around the park. We covered a little over a mile on that first walk. It was a bit breezy, and the wind had a chill to it.
We met a couple of other dogs taking their master’s out walking just as Sandy and Mikey were doing to me. When we got back, I brought out the small bird feeders and refilled the two big ones. I thought that I needed to assess the merits of refilling those tomorrow morning and decide that it was worth one more try. The darn Grackles just waste so much seed and it ends up on the ground. At least, it gives the deer something to eat.
Back indoors, I fixed breakfast that neither dog ate. Maybe, I need to change the food and think about something different in their diet. I ate mine refusing to be caught up in the dog’s bad habits. Incidentally, they always have hard food available, so they are not going to starve if I do not feed them. It does present a problem with Sandy and her medication as they are crushed up pills on her food and are too big to feed any other way.
I settled down in front of the computer and worked on the blog for a bit before switching my attention to the website. I spent at least three hours working on it trying to work out the problems with the posting. Altogether, a very frustrating three hours.
Then it was time to go walking again and we took the road that leads to Hwy 290. The reason for this choice was because this morning on our walk, one of the mature cows in the field next to the road was walking in the same direction as us and seemed very upset bellowing at the top of her lungs as she tried to find the other cattle that are in those fields along with her. Presumably, one was her offspring.
This got me curious so instead of turning into the park, we walked up the road following the direction of the cow. I could not see the other two cows and two calves either so now the mystery was, “Where are they.”
Unfortunately, the heifers are bred for slaughter but usually the couple of female adults are fertilized and the cycle starts all over again. The only part that did not make sense is where were the other two adults. As there was no way I would solve the mystery, we went back to the RV, but it still bothered me.
When we got back to the RV, the first thing that I noticed was that the two big feeders were empty…again. So, I will not bother to bring them in tonight neither will I fill them tomorrow and they can hang there empty. Let us see what the Grackles do about that? They have trouble balancing on the other feeders so maybe they will leave them alone. Yeah right.
It was not yet dark but out of spite to the Grackles, I brought in the feeders for the night. That was our last outdoor job for the day. The rest of the time was spent in the usual way with the evening meal and then watching a Premier League game on the TV. Incidentally, I was in bed by 9:30 pm.
This is the thanks the deer give me for feeding them…
I slept well as did the dogs as they hardly moved through the night. Me, I had to get up for the usual bathroom breaks that result from a gotta go feeling without peeing very much. The bane of old men…Towards morning, I lay there awake contemplating on things I need to do and as they usually do, such thinking made me fall asleep again resulting in getting up around 9:30 am. Not that it matters as I have nothing planned.
I harnessed up the dogs and brought them outside. I had managed to forget to bring in the feeders last evening and needless to say, the deer has completely emptied them. So, with the dogs tied up so they could watch, I refilled all the feeders including the ones hanging in the trees. I had to literally pick a couple up off the ground where the deer had knocked them off the hangers. Still, only one had some minor damage but they were both very empty.
With the seed replenished, we went out for that all important first walk and just wandered around the park before taking the outside road towards the massive Oak Tree. We managed to walk exactly a mile for the morning walk. Funny, it always seems so much further when I am doing the walking.
Back in the RV, I fixed the dog’s breakfast first before finding something for me to eat along with that all important coffee. Incidentally, breakfast is becoming a problem as nothing tastes good anymore, not even coffee. I may even have to resort to drinking tea, the good old English drink.
Then as we usually do, I worked on the blog to bring it up to date. I had a couple of household chores to do like emptying the black tank and a couple of other equally obnoxious but necessary things. I had some easy things too like coiling the spare hose and putting it away and folding up the dust cover that I use to cover various things when it is freezing. The extended forecast for this month is that there is no frosty weather in the forecast at all. Hope that is true as I have already had my share of cold weather. I’ll put up with 100 degrees any day.
We sat around and listened to an Audiobook this time indoors so as not to disturb my neighbors with the small speaker that I have. Apparently, it can be heard around the park if I have it too high. The problem is that it is not on high to me, and I have difficulty hearing it. I have an upcoming ear appointment with the Audiologist on Thursday so maybe I can get the hearing aids adjusted.
We went out for another walk late in the afternoon after doing a lot of sitting around doing absolutely nothing except to listen to the Audiobook and managed to cover 1.6 miles for the day. It ended in the usual fashion of food all around and a couple of tiny bottles of wine for me along with the evening meal and we were in bed by 9:00 pm.
I awoke early and got up this time, taking the usual shower and changing clothes. The first thing was the bird feeders. Last evening, I tried as an experiment to find out if a Racoon is eating the two large hanging feeders off the deck during the night by bringing just one of them in and leaving the other in place. Well, this morning, the hanging one was still full up as was the one I left standing on the deck. So, it must be the Sparrows that are doing the eating. Incidentally, they flick food all over the place as they look for whatever is the flavor of the month, wasting much more than they eat.
With the feeders out for another day, we went out walking around the grounds for about three quarters of a mile before heading back in for the usual breakfast which neither dog wanted to eat. I did not have the same as them but my own was not very appetizing either. Me and food don’t get along much anymore. Incidentally, I must have done more damage than I first thought when I fell as my right knee is very, very sore and painful. I keep trying different things, but none are working so I guess I will just have to wait it out. BJ stopped at my RV yesterday and got out of her car to give me a large size bottle of Antiseptic so that I could treat the lacerations on my left knee, which was extremely nice of her.
Then it was time to start writing in the blog and as I was a couple of days behind, I sat wracking my brain as to what had happened over those days. I know the only person that knows the truth is me, but I want to be as correct as possible. I managed to get the earlier blogs written and in order which caught me up hoping to have remembered at least the important stuff.
I kept plugging away and finally had the blog written and posted up to date. Part of the problem is that most days, very little changes in my life. Occasionally something is different but not very often and now, things are even more repetitious than before except when I start drinking with Delores. Or with the girls and Daniel and Malinda That changes everything, usually ending with me getting helped back to my RV. At least, it has not yet reached the stage of getting put to bed…. yet.
I was talking to Delores about it today and mentioned that I only had 3 maybe 4 beers and then she reminded me that between us, we had both drunk a large bottle of wine apiece. I forgot about that. Oh well, it was fun even if my leg does hurt a little.
I sat there looking out of the sliding glass doors as the light slowly started to fade and another day continued to come to a close. I kept reminding myself that I had to bring in the bird feeders but as the birds were still visiting, it was a little too early.
I decided to sit outside as it was not too cold out there and watched the deepening shadows as the sun slipped below the horizon. That was my cue to bring in all the feeders and put them in the big storage box that I have, I left the two off the deck as it seems that it is only birds eating that seed.
With the outside buttoned up for the evening, we went indoors for the evening meal and then watched Brighton lose their Premier League game.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX Tuesday 12/05/2023
The choir singing…
For some reason, the heat was off although I was switched to electric, and I got up to change it to Propane and discovered that the tank was empty. I had the usual spare one and quickly switched tanks and went back inside. I still do not know why the electric side was not working as that does not use propane.
I went in the bathroom as the house warmed up and finished shaving which I had purposely put off while messing with the house heaters. Feeling like a new man, we went out walking around the park avoiding the couple of dogs that we ran into. Both my left hip, my right knee and the most recent scrape behind my left knee were all hurting as I limped around the park and in the end with apologies to the dogs, we came back to The Caboose. Damn, I hate growing old.
Back in the RV, I fixed us all breakfast with me having a bowl of oatmeal for a change. I managed to get the heat too high and spilt half of it in the microwave giving me an extra clean up job. It tasted OK and filled a tiny spot in my belly, but I made do.
I worked on the blog which usually takes a couple of hours and brought it up to date and looked around for other things to do. I thought about going into town but decided it would keep for another day. Maybe tomorrow?
We went out for another walkabout and managed to cover 1.8 miles for the day. Not bad considering how sore my legs are. Back in The Caboose, we sat on the deck listening to an Audiobook. A couple of my neighbors stopped by to chat as they were taking their walks.
It started to get dark, and I shut up shop and we moved back inside, this time for the evening meal and then Premier League soccer.
I live in an RV park it started off as just a lark buy a camper and stay the night at an RV Camper site travel around from here to there driving along with hardly a care call ahead to reserve a spot so you have your own little lot only good until you move on as the open road becomes your song and staying at an RV park only applies when it gets dark some parks are better than the rest and offer more and not in jest swimming pools and shady spots even a store for what you forgot a bathroom shower to clean the dirt for the rigs whose space is inert because they are small compact and light and they are built for travelling right some of us are here to stay having travelled along the way and now too old to move around a permanent campground we have found as we like living in our RV even though it may not be the type that moves along at pace instead a permanent rig in place where we will spend the rest of our years living here along with our peers.
The dogs took me walking the other day as we usually do and along the way we passed not one but three young men each running separately setting a trend as they moved gracefully forward striding along in effortless movement covering the ground with graceful ease and moving at a respectable speed I looked at the dogs as they dragged me along cursing under my breath with each furlong suffering agonies with each step that we took wishing I was at home with a book instead of getting pulled here and there as the dogs could smell the scent in the air of others dogs that had passed before we had even got out of the door actually this is not close to true Sandy does drag as we continue to walk along at a pretty fast pace at least for me although it’s no race especially when compared to the men who have just run on by and then back again in the time that it takes us a few yards they have galloped along without any regards to the effort it takes but oh to be young and join with them and their run alas my running days are long gone and I am content to carry on with Sandy always taking the lead pulling Mikey and me along like a steed and that is the way that it will be as old age has taken its toll on me I hope these young men through the years will continue to run through the gears staying healthy and fit as long as they can for running is cheap since time began and do not let life get in the way of staying healthy and fit or have any say doing it as fast as they can with thousands of runners throughout the land.
I fear the world has gone quite mad making me feel so very sad remembering the way it used to be although we have never been truly free there have always been wars of different kinds between nations and countries all looking to find a way to take the others land and enslave the people by their command other countries then join the fight knowing that if they add their might they can end a bloody war so things can return to the way before but people still have many concerns even if normality returns because what caused the problem remains and people look for someone to blame to change the system to a different way so whoever is hurt can have their say not every fight ends in a war sometimes returning just as before other times talking can help the cause with both sides ready to take a pause and work things out in a friendly way by letting each other have their say it matters not the color of the skin for fighting a war is a mortal sin people die or get hurt and suffer the pain sometimes never to be well again we should all be equal and not be ignored except when our natural abilities afford to get ahead by working hard enjoy the fruits of our effort and not be marred by those who are jealous about our success doing everything they can to put us under duress this world we live in is a funny old place with mankind trying to end the race it’s as though we decided that it is time and the life we thought of as so sublime is now coming down around our ears filling us all with terrible fears we may be looking to proclaim it is time for man to accept the blame that he is not worthy of this place as are none of us in the human race as we do not know how to get along or live with Nature and that is wrong and when the last of us departs Nature remains with all of her smarts and she will not mourn that we are gone but instead will sing her loudest song as the last of us returns to dust just as she always knew we must.
My Friend BJ striding it out at Bastrop State Park,
I had a visitor today my friend from Bastrop but she did not stay she happened to be in town and stopped by and the very reason why is she had some marmalade for me taken from her own pantry that she had made as she often does with her own special touch and lots of love she sometimes includes me when she makes jam knowing just how fond I am for breakfast on toast is always the best two slices at least passes the test and then I have to put it away saving the rest for another day I really appreciate my friend for including me and I recommend that if she ever offers to you you jump at the chance for a bite or two of the wonderfuls jams and jellies she makes her talent for cooking is really no fake and if she was more inclined could sell her wares to human kind but I am lucky just like Sam who is my friends long suffering Old Man as they have been married many a year and they hold each other dear I would too given the chance not because I want a romance and not with any disrespect as my reasons have no effect but to share the jelly and food as my friends cooking is really that good.
BeBe in the middle of the jungle that is my garden.
One of my little dogs got sick and was moping around and not herself so for a couple of days I checked and waited in the hope that a trip to the Vet’s would not a necessity be in order to bring her back to health.
Alas for it was not to be as she did not improve with time if anything her condition got worse and out of bed she refused to climb eating she stopped which is not her way as one thing she always did a lot was to finish her food and look for more even though in the end I stopped giving her extra as weight she was adding to her little body it did not look good so like Weight Watchers, my little dog on a diet was placed and her treats were rationed and replaced with more exercise of which she enjoyed as she would chase after her toys.
This was done some time ago so I knew it had nothing to do with her currently not feeling well so something else was the problem here. I picked up the phone and called my Vet and Cyndi recognized my name “How are you today” she politely asked “and what is it we can do for you?”
For those of you who have followed my tales will remember when I wrote about another of my pets, Mini who unfortunately was beyond our help and sadly we had to say goodbye and I took her home and buried her deep as she sleeps her everlasting sleep next to her friend Manley.
Both are buried in the yard out in the garden so peaceful and still with small statues of their breed above to watch over them until others will join them for that is the way I like to remember all of my pets who over the years have been faithful to me so that we do not forget.
BeBe
An appointment I made with Cyndi that day and Be Be and I went on our way to visit our friends at the Veterinary Clinic so that Dr Vargas could check and see what he thought was wrong with Be Be.
Diagnosing an illness in a pet is a lot more difficult that one would expect as animals have no way to help and it’s the skill of the Doctor that will find out what is troubling the animal and given the signs in this case teeth cleaning was top of the list followed by an ultrasound of her tummy to see if her gall bladder was infected as the Doctor suspected that in all probability that’s what the problem would be.
So with heavy heart my little friend I did leave in the hopes that everything would turn out OK as complications have been known to set in any time that surgery is performed.
Dr. Vargas diagnosis proved correct as her gall bladder was a terrible mess all cloudy and messy where it should be clean and clear for the Doctor to see that it’s removal was needed in order for Be Be to start to feel better and her old self to be.
Later that day Dr. Vargas did call to give me the news that Be Be was fine and that overnight she would need to stay in order to recover from the way her small body would take the shock of losing a part whether needed or not.
The next day to the Office happily I did drive because my friend was very much alive and waiting for me to pick her up and take her home so that she could be back with her extended family who at the door did welcome her back and sniffed around as if to say “Glad your here, do you plan to stay?”
Keeping the critters out
Be Be is her old self again, trucking around the yard and sniffing the ground recognizing the smells of her special places as she runs with Richie as the two of them go, hunting for rats but settling instead on lizards and frogs on their short legs just acting like dogs and guarding the place as the sign says.
One week later we had to return so a check of Be Be’s health could be made. This time Dr. Hurwitz checked her and declared that she was recovering just as he said.
Dr Hurwitz and I go back a long way as my Vet he has been for many years even when I was still married then he treated our pets although different ones and that was almost 20 years ago as time marches and does not go slow.
My friends at the Vets have come through again working their magic for those who I care making them feel better and helping me through the difficult times Dr’s. Hurwitz, Donop, Varga have all been involved in some special way with my group of pets, helped by others who in no particular order Jillian and Shannon, Cyndi and Trish, Pam and Jeremy are who I can name, there may be more of this I am not sure but my thanks goes out to one and all.
With recognition and thanks to Austin Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital at Oak Springs in Austin, Texas
I opened up a can of worms for daring to suggest that women would the masters be somewhere that is best left for time to decide but one thing I am sure that men regardless of the fight will masters be no more.
For those of you who do not believe you only need to look at what is happening in your home your maleness that you took for granted is in doubt as your wife is finding you out and is questioning things more and more, things that were never questioned before as in the early days of marital bliss there was nothing that was amiss but now the honeymoon has gone and with it the strengths that you relied on.
All over the world this fight goes on, women are demanding more and yet some men without a doubt do not intend for women to flout anything they may have won in their fight for it is not done nor is it finished just barely begun.
In countries that more modern be the fight is about equality equal pay for equal work advancement that is earned in kind by the brilliance of her mind and not because a number she to fill a quota or worse yet to satisfy some other cause that in the end will prove too difficult for her to tend.
Equal pay for equal work:
Some men want things to remain the same as second class citizens every one their place is at home babies to mind, they should not be out where others can find that they have views and opinions too and in many cases speak the truth of what women can give in this masculine world as they advance with flags unfurled.
Those men fear the thing I wrote that women sometime eventually will be the leaders in society and those same men fear the worst as no longer control they will have in the lives of these women who are their wives.
Rise up you men and take your place and decide where you are in this race are you satisfied the way things are, do you wish less aggressive your wife to be would you like her to act more romantically and forget this nonsense she has in her mind to take over the world and be one of a kind or would you prefer that a leader she be to take over from you in eternity as the head of the house, Queen of her throne as she is the leader of you and your home.
Whatever you want it matters not as women will take their place in this world and regardless of any fight you may have the women will win and you will become, the second class citizen to their number one.
The outcome of such a stupendous event of women in charge is that men will relent in their claim to be masters and in fact will be nothing more than servants and chattels and at the same time their bidding will do without complaint or malice as only too glad are they to be included in this new day.
As I think back on my life, my thoughts turn to the wives of whom I shared time. There were three of them in all and each one with a fatal flaw of character so strong that it caused differences between me and them and made it difficult to live together as man and wife and still not get into too much strife.
It would not be fair for me to say that these women are all to blame for in all honesty I was just as guilty too and that I did my share of arguing the same with them for fear that dominant they would become and my role as man would change and our life together was no more than one of servitude.
I think way back when around that time I began to recognize that there is more to a woman than looking so fine, not just a body beautiful and strong nor nights of bliss so divine I recognize now the strength of her mind.
Wife number three changed my views and things were different with the news that no longer was I head of house or sole breadwinner for my spouse pointed out many times that her salary was equal to mine. My wife wanted more of a say in the way things were run from day-to-day and slowly but surely did become at least in our house, number one
I don’t know why I’m writing this as I did not intend to be so down after all, life is good for me and I should say I would not want it any other way with wives long gone and no more grief I am the one in the driver’s seat.
With not even a wife, to add to the strife they are experts at double meanings. On the one hand beauty and joy can they bring to a man in moments of song at other times if they do not agree, they can make life a misery as with their subtleties of thought and deed, they make it difficult to proceed in a normal and objective way.
There are times it’s true to say when I wish it had turned out a different way Women I like to be around and yet I have not found anything better than the love they offer and the care and the comfort in times of bliss but needless to say it’s not always like this and then I think of the other side where meekness and agreement no longer reside as women have come way too far for this and the days gone by that used to be bliss are now nothing but a memory, dreaming of things that used to be and things will never be the same as women have developed both their brain and their mind to the degree that Man no longer equal can be.
They do not use physical force as at that they would probably lose as man is the stronger most of the time but what they do is play with his mind and life can be so uncomfortable then that the male will usually give in and without a single blow being struck, the woman has got her way again to add to her list of battles won all with the subtleties of her mind.
Now take that action on a grander scale and have women of the world prevail in larger conflicts other than home and have them collectively speak out against all that is wrong in this world today.
Only then in such a way that the men who may be physically strong will realize they do not belong and are not in the same league as women who have banded together not to play but with thought alone and no physical action the women can rule not just the home but further their horizons will spread until the men eventually will admit that second class citizens they have become as women with their minds alone will be masters of this world as one. This is way in the future it has to be said not in my lifetime for I will be dead but the action most feared by man will arrive and women will be top dogs and survive.
Fear not for man will still have his use as the kids of the world they will help reproduce and be a stay at home Moms and look after the house and do the chores as meek as a mouse to soccer practice the kids they will drive while the women will be keeping them alive and all this will happen to mankind because women have the stronger mind and have learned the power of its use as collectively they took over man until he in turn, answered to them.
In the future a new struggle will evolve the reverse of the one happening now men will be looking for equality as women will the bosses be and men will emulate the women of old for their position in life to find and in the world the men will try to dominate woman the way they used to in a different day.
Women on the other hand will be the masters of all they can see and conflicts between Nations will cease as women agree where men just fought until the time when one woman will change her mind and disagree with the others around and back we will be in conflict this time no longer in harmony.
As women who now rule mankind will not be satisfied until they find a way to rule each others minds.
I Gotta get me one of those watering cans and the girl to operate it.
It’s amazing how busy a person can be working on something of interest to them Gardening has that effect on me and even though nothing major was planned I can find a myriad of “stuff” to do some of which by themselves are chores but coupled with all of the interesting things, the tasks are really no longer a bore.
There are always things that need to be done and cleaning filters is just one of the many things that it takes, to keep the ponds healthy for the fish keeping water clear so they can survive for it’s my job to keep them alive.
Another thing that I need to do is water the plants or they will die especially as summer does progress as this is Texas and we all know that it is only a matter of time before the temperature reaches one hundred and five
Earlier this week, a project I planned to install soaker hoses in the areas with plants. To my favorite store, a trip I did make to purchase the pieces I thought I would need. Lengths of hoses and timers and other odd things, the project to build just like in my dreams for the planning of this was done at night, just before I turned out the light and in my mind, I had it worked out. In the morning after I woke I scribbled it down so as not to lose track of all of the ideas that I had planned to make the garden easier to maintain so instead of waiting for it to rain, the timers come on every two days and carefully water with much less waste than I would take if in my haste, I did not enough attention pay and some of the water ran away.
I found the work a lot of fun but that is because I really enjoy piecing together the different parts and if for some reason things don’t fit the brain kicks in and does its bit by working out a different way to assemble the pieces like the original plan and maybe not exactly the same but the end result is what matters the most, getting water to plants to keep them alive as soon it might be a hundred and five as our Texas summer begins to bear down and day after day one thing we know most, that Texas is hot and it won’t be long that even people like me who like it hot, will inside be writing in this blog.
The project is finished and now all that it takes is to keep an eye on the plants for goodness sake, as they will show if enough water is reaching their roots and if they can produce young green shoots that will tell me that success is ours. Instead, if things shrivel, turn brown and start to look bad, this time I will not be sad as adjustments are needed to our design so as to keep everything in line and to follow our original plan, getting water to ALL of the plants in time.
I gotta get me one of those watering cans and a lady to operate it…
I have been retired for several years Eleven in fact from that day when I decided to walk away from the place that I spent my time working twenty-two years to earn my dime.
I spend my days doing what is norm I have some duties that I must perform Like making player cards that people may play Coed soccer every Saturday or make entries for TSSAS of soccer players so they too may play this wonderful game with team mates and friends on Saturday’s or Sunday’s, it has no end.
When I’m not working on stuff for soccer then out in the yard I go to putter in my garden or to work on the ponds to get my hands dirty is something I am fond of doing as it brings me closer to Nature to share, without whom would be our failure.
On those days when I have nothing to do or the weather is bad or I haven’t a clue then in front of my laptop I park my carcass and write in my blog or a poem or verse to pass along thoughts on all kinds of things as I sit here words and time do have wings out they flow until I decide the things I have written is enough for the day.
When all is done I go for a jaunt to Starbucks for coffee, a latte to link the end the day with my favorite drink.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the evenings do yield as North I travel to reach the fields where I coach the little boys how to play the game of soccer for in their own way these boys are serious about the game to learn how to play it is their aim my job it is to see that it’s done In the hope, one day, they’ll be No 1.
My life is good there is no doubt as lucky am I no wife to pout or give orders or tell me what to do as I come and I go, my money I spend no wife to control me or worse yet to send me to the doghouse for not heeding her wishes in my house I wear the britches although I do have to say that my small furry friends do tend to boss me but they make amends with their love and affection and little they ask just attention from me or food on a plate, the task I gladly perform for my mates.
All of you folks who worry about retiring do it I say as long as you can afford it find something to do as busy you must be your mind must stay busy with activity and your body too but exercise is easy just keep moving 11000 steps is the goal that’s each day so get on a roll walking is great no effort it takes and healthy you’ll be for that’s what will make your retirement as something to enjoy as long as you keep a healthy mind and body too for this you will find Neither is not hard to do.
Group Of Children Playing Football With Friends In Park
Gone are the days of long ago when life was simple and oh so slow and we ran and jumped when we were kids not a care in the world just endless bliss climbing trees and miles of walks out in the country as Nature talks telling us to go this way here is a better place to play down by the stream to catch a fish and putting it back deaths not our wish as life is precious in every way and we did not eat that fish today spending all day out in the woods amusing ourselves as kids should life was simple without many cares no TV or cell phone just us and fresh air coming home tired at the end of the day to parents who asked if we enjoyed our play knowing we were out in the woods playing our games just as kids should not stuck indoors unless it had rained although to us kids it was all the same
I feel sorry for the modern-day kid not knowing the joys that we all did as we played our games without a care and for each other we would always be there long gone are those days never to return for life has changed those years we have burned the world is different and now it’s not safe for kids in the woods or down by the lake no longer climb trees and nature in place instead, stuck at home with a screen in their face and where they go so does that phone as people walk, they are never alone they are so glued to that bloody screen that life passes by to them unseen.
The modern kids of today know not the joys as we did in play but life was so much simpler then and I feel sorry for you my friend raised in a world with a phone in your face the beginning of the end of the human race for Nature’s world will pass you by and will die before your very eyes and you will see it on your phone and realize you are alone. no birds or animals’ grass or trees all gone all extinct just to please those of you of the human race that needed that phone stuck in your face. for the phone has replaced the wonders around all of which can only be found by looking up and glancing about and thinking then there is no doubt that the wonders of Nature can only be seen by eyes no longer on that screen.
I got up really early at 6:00 am. I have not been up this early in years and forgot just what it was like. Quite honestly, although it was a bit cooler and much nicer for walking, I did not notice much difference. Maybe that is because I was stumbling along with my eyes half closed trying to sleepwalk my way around the park. Today, of course, is the big day when we trade in Mr. George and pick up Quatro.
We hurried through breakfast, and I forgo the coffee for grapefruit juice probably because the coffee maker and all other utensils are packed away. I moved the Jeep to the temporary parking which is right next to the laundry room and hurried back to Mr. George to go thru the pre-moving process, lowering the jacks, moving in the slide, disconnecting the water, sewer and finally the electric power. The final act was to ease Mr. George forward a bit, jump out after turning off the truck engine and check that everything was OK and hit the road. It was about 7:30 am and the traffic was light as it was not a workday. I made the turn onto Ranch Road 12 without having to use the detour that I had as a backup and we trucked along, making good time until as I rounded a bend, the County police had the road blocked. Something must have crashed but it was no longer there, and the local fire department were busy washing off the road which, incidentally, took forever. Well at least 20 minutes of frustration before I was back on my way. I had already called Crestview to tell them of the situation so they would know I would be late. Time is money and all of that…
I arrived and parked Mr. George for the last time without an ounce of regret as he just did not measure up or maybe, I was just too picky, and hurried into the office to be met by my salesperson, John Giguere. We quickly went through the paperwork. I told him I wanted to keep the mattress from Mr. George as I had previously bought it. He said he would look to see if the one in Quatro was the same size and would change it out if it was. He hurried off and the very nice lady from the office called me in and we went through the paperwork. I signed what seemed like 50 pieces of paper with her rattling on that this was for xxx and this for yyy. I gave her my cashier’s check for a large sum of money and then I was the proud owner of Quatro. It would be great if this was the end of the story after I had transferred the few remaining things, but it was not to be as the step which automatically closes or opens depending on the door, stopped working. A whole army of technicians descended on us they went to work trying to fix the problem. Almost 2 hours later they had it working again, and they had to steal the parts off another RV as they did not have them in stock. I finally pulled out of there and made my way back to Henly. I had been in communication with my friend BJ, who had offered to help transfer the stuff into Quatro and told her to not bother because it would be late by the time I got home.
The trip back was uneventful except for one motorist honking his horn at me as I made a turn at a stop sign. I had to take a wide swing because of the off track due to the length of Quatro at 36 ft and he did not approve. Too bad. I could have just run into him and then see how he would like that. Upon arriving at Henly, I proceeded to back into the site, getting it right the first time without any adjustments whatsoever. Next was to plug in the shore power, lower the jacks after placing leveling boards under the jack feet, connect the water and sewer and we were all set and ready to go. I let out the slide and we went for a short walk before returning to start work. I tied the dogs up outside so they could see what was going on and started to carry in boxes from under the tarps outside. We worked diligently for several hours before calling it quits and finding some food for us all. I tried the TV but could not get it to work and gave up listening to an Audiobook instead before hitting the sack early as my body was so tired and sore and slept like the proverbial baby.
I slept like a log not waking until around 8:30 am this morning. I got out of bed immediately and we went for a short walk around the park. The steps are making grinding noises when I open them, and it looks like trip back to Crestview although I will wait until I pull out of here on Wednesday, the 1st. They are set up wrong anyway as they are supposed to stay open if the screen door is open and latched and only close when the main door is closed. I did not bother with breakfast and had to settle for instant coffee. Better than nothing though.
We went to work all day carrying in loads of boxes and storing the contents away until, I determined that we had done about as much as we could but had hardly made a dent in the stack outside. With so much more storage space, I had the luxury of picking and choosing which drawers or closets to store stuff. The bunk is proving to be very useful as it will never get used for sleeping and consequently makes a fine storage space for totes and such.
Sandy was due to be groomed and this time, her groomer stopped by the RV to pick her up, bringing her back a few hours later looking clean and sharp. I thanked the groomer whose name is Bethany, and we went back to work. Around 7:00 pm we called it a day and found food for us all. I had bought a roast chicken which is the dog’s favorite when added to their other food. I ate mine with steamed vegetables which I recently discovered.
I worked on the blog site and all of a sudden, the computer crashed with a warning that it was infected with a bug and the only way to fix it was to call a certain company to get them to clean it up. Bottom line and a couple of hours and $799.00 later, the computer was fixed. I suggested that I buy another computer, but it is something to do with my assigned IP address and even a new one using the same IP address would also be infected. My only option was to pay the fee to get it cleaned up. I have no idea how I got the bug as I do not open things I don’t recognize and am very careful, but it does not appear that any information was stolen. I have programs that are supposed to stop it like Malwarebytes and others, but I guess it was a different problem. Not my day after all. I did pay with my American Express card just as a safeguard.
I still have not hooked up the Roku stick, and the TV does not work using the other remotes that I have so we sat and listened to an Audiobook until it was time for bed.
I slept well probably because the work I did yesterday moving stuff into Quatro. It is tiring walking up and down the steps plus the heavy lifting is not what I am used to but I did manage to cover 1.8 miles for the day. We got up and took the first walk around the park running into a few other campers most of whom said hello. I did not even bother with breakfast or coffee and jumped straight into the work. Today, I spent a few hours loading totes into the outside storage in Quatro. Stuff like tools and supplies and such. It was amazing by working along at a steady pace, how much I was able to accomplish and before long, all of the outside pile was gone, the mat was back in place with the couch on it. Everything was stored away and I still have quite a bit of storage space left even after storing the extra, now empty, totes. What I will do in the coming days is to redistribute where the different items are stored to even out the weight a bit but there is no hurry for that. Incidentally, the Jeep is also empty, more or less, although there are some things I carry permanently in it.
Back inside Quatro, I sat for a while after stripping off and changing my sweaty clothes, just to relax a bit before going back to work inside trying to organize and straighten up. I received a call from Crestview and had a conversation with the manager regarding the steps and have an appointment on June 1st to get them fixed. I am leaving this park on that day anyway, so it is a detour on my way to Bastrop and hopefully, should not take too long. I spent the rest of the day straightening and tidying things up inside the RV. I even worked on the television and installed my Roku stick. Although the TV lit up. it kept telling me “No signal”. I messed around without a clue of knowing what I was doing, and I got lucky, and everything opened up. The screen is huge, probably at least 48 inches and maybe more. It will be fun to watch the soccer games on it.
We are pretty much all set for the move on Wednesday. Tomorrow, I will load the Jeep with the wicker couch and table and the other sundry other things that I carry there when we travel. I cannot hook it up yet as I will need to pull Quatro out of this parking space to do that so that will happen early Wednesday morning. We went out for the final walk of the day just around the park. It seemed hotter than ever even with a steady breeze, and I was glad to get back to the A/C. I finished writing this blog before getting it ready to post.
We all slept well, and I am glad that I had them swap the mattress from Mr. George as the new one is really comfortable especially with the additional 2 inches of mattress topper on it. I got up at a respectable hour for us as I knew we had a busy day ahead. We went out and walked around and ran into Daniel, back from his weekend vacation. He said they had a wonderful time swimming, canoeing and fishing along with eating and drinking. I showed him around Quatro, and he said he really liked it. He liked the additional space and the layout plus all of the storage. I think he was being honest and not just being nice. Back in the RV, we had a quick breakfast and this time I was able to make a latte along with a couple of slices of toast having got everything set up.
Then it was time to go to work. I harnessed the dogs to the table so they could watch and then proceeded to load the usual things in the Jeep carrier, outside mats, wicker couch and table and some of the wood blocking we use for levelling under the RV feet. The cushions and a couple of other things were put in the back of the Jeep. With everything outside put away with the exception of the water hose, sewer hose and electric power cable which will be the very last things after we pull in the slides, we adjourned back inside of the RV to the air conditioning. It was hot outside as the temperature had already reached 90 degrees.
Back inside, I put away the last of the things from outside and changed a couple of other storage locations for other stuff and noticed that I had overloaded a drawer and the bottom had parted company from the sides. Something else to work on. I did find a new home for the drawer’s contents though as I have that much space. I still need to get Quatro ready for the road by clearing off the counter tops of all moveable items and any others located throughout the coach. We do not have to be at Crestview until 11:30 am which means leaving here around 10:15 am or so I have a little time for the final packing. I do have to hook up the Jeep which takes about 15 minutes and will be the last thing I do before driving off.
I sat around for a while messing around with different things as I thought about them until about 6:30 pm when we went out walking around the park. We also walked the road that is part of the loop and that leads to Hwy 290 and saw a few exotic deer in the Preserve before returning to the RV. We managed to cover 1.6 miles for the day. On the way out on our walk, Malinda and Daniel were sitting outside of their RV and we wandered over so my dogs could say hello to their dogs. I sat and we chatted for a bit mostly about the upcoming move and the tenants of the park. We discussed my moving to their site when I come back which will be good for me as I will not be facing the sun like I do in this one.
It was still too hot to sit outside and anyway, I had nothing to sit on having put it all away ready for the trip, so we headed back indoors. The dogs immediately crashed while waiting for me to prepare their food knowing that as I was busy writing, it would be a while before I turned my attention to them. I finished the blog for the day and fed the dogs before feeding myself and then watching TV on my huge, screened TV set. Tomorrow is the day when we start yet another new adventure.
I walked out in the yard today and took a look around Mother Nature has busy been as plants grow from the ground. Most are small buds so tender yet and require more time to grow But its a start and we all know that Nature can get it wrong. As frosts may still be lurking, damage to create we hope this is not so and it’s too late to spoil the growth that’s started here to give us a good start to have a yard so beautiful a pleasure for all to see with flowers and growth so lush and green makes it all worthwhile to me and others who come to take a look with no yard of their own the pleasure they get from seeing mine brings joy and happiness to define their love of all things green and fresh and Mother Nature at her best.
My friends took me to lunchtoday for your birthday, they did say. Pat and Fran led the way for they are the friends who did say come, let us take you to lunch today. With two beautiful ladies for company why would I want to say I can’t go to lunch today.
Where I was expecting a birthday cake fish and chips instead for we did take our lunch at Catfish Parlor where birthday cake is not served there
No matter, the fish and chips were good taking me back to my childhood and beyond for thirty years or so before to America I did go and fish and chips of the English kind the meal today did bring to mind.
Thank you, my friends for it was kind of you to take me to lunch and find a dish that I could really enjoy and even though we did not have cake it matters not the food for the sake of friendship to dinner we did partake and the birthday was just an excuse for good friends to share time together.
Another birthday has come and gone this one no different from the rest like the others just a card or two a birthday call from my friends who wished me all the very best to be another year older.
Those that called all said the same. You look good not changed a bit just like you always have but with a little less hair, a wrinkle or two an extra pound to carry around another year older.
This year is different as it seems messages received by electronic means on Facebook, Twitter and my blog too all wishing Many Happy Returns and for all of my years, not left behind messages of the electronic kind but the fact remains for all of my skill I cannot change nor have the will another year older
The messages all did say Happy Birthday, enjoy the day we are sure you will in your own way we know that you are happy to celebrate this life with the view of another year older.
One of these days The Lord will come knocking my soul to take and my body to rotting in my grave when the time comes around the time when is normally found my Birthday to celebrate here on earth no longer will happen for I will be to all of my friends just a memory and no longer will my friends say another year older.
With heartfelt Thanks to all of those that remembered my Birthday. I love you all…
Today will be my birthday, again Seventy Six this makes and all have been most welcome for at no time did I find no longer a birthday I wanted this time this birthday no different from the previous five will be spent at home with my dogs and my cats and the fish too as they do splash happy birthday they say all with one mind to make it the best for we are here and to us you are more precious, more dear. Happy Birthday dear friend they all do recite even though you don’t hear us we see the light of one more birthday as it comes your way from us, your friends, have a wonderful day.
The last twenty years alone have I been no mate to share how I spend my life no one, it’s true, to give me strife but no one to love unless animals do count as endless of them have I shared as I mount the stairway of life as on it goes when it will end only God knows but one thing is certain that in this life birthdays do count even with the strife they may bring as without them it’s true life as we know it does not renew.
Every life has a purpose of this we are sure what it is may not always be an open door but unless suffering in body or in mind with open arms each birthday we find through one more year not shedding a tear of all of life’s troubles whatever you hear with that in mind we have nothing to fear except fear itself as we march bravely on looking for the next verse in this song of life as its inevitable end we must mind and no more birthdays we’ll have of the earthly kind.
