It was a cloudy, dull and miserable day although it did not rain while we were out walking but it was quite nippy, and I was glad of the jacket I had on. We wandered around and saw a couple of other brave souls walking their dogs. As every dog owner knows, dogs have got to be walked both for exercise and to do their business.
I was almost back at the RV and saw Peggy climbing the steps. I gave her a shout and then caught up with her only to discover that she had walked over with breakfast for me. The girls are such sweet ladies and so very thoughtful.
I adjourned back indoors and figured that unless something serious comes up, that is where I will spend most of the day. I can usually find plenty to do and if not, can always take a nap. That pleases the dogs to no end.
I ate the breakfast and made coffee after I fed the dogs. They always come first if there is anything that involves them, which of course, includes food. I rewarmed the pancakes that Peggy had brought over and ate them. The dogs got little tasters which they enjoyed immensely.
With breakfast out of the way, I seriously thought about going into town as I needed a couple of things. As the weather was not the greatest, I decided to put that off until tomorrow. Besides, it was Sunday, and I was out of the small bottles of wine although I knew that I could buy them if I had wanted to drive in. I was just looking for a reason not to move out of my warm house.
I caught up with the blog and then messed around with both computers trying to get the new one to import pictures so I could work on them but to no avail. What makes it worse is that the old one will not import anymore either. I guess, I have really messed them up.
I finally gave up on the computers and sat on the couch, which was my first mistake. With a dog on either side and feeling warm and cuddly, in no time flat I had dropped off to sleep. We snoozed for about 30 minutes and when we awoke, we went out for that final walk of the day.
Back in the RV, it was food time which I took care of although I was not that hungry. The ice cream tasted good though.
Then it was time for the usual evening’s entertainment of watching the English Premier League. I watched Brighton although Solly will not be playing until next year due to his injuries. Incidentally, with it getting darker earlier, I adjourn indoors much sooner than I normally did and so everything is moved forward. Consequently, I went to bed around 9:15 pm which a month ago was unheard of.
I live in an RV park it started off as just a lark buy a camper and stay the night at an RV Camper site travel around from here to there driving along with hardly a care call ahead to reserve a spot so you have your own little lot only good until you move on as the open road becomes your song and staying at an RV park only applies when it gets dark some parks are better than the rest and offer more and not in jest swimming pools and shady spots even a store for what you forgot a bathroom shower to clean the dirt for the rigs whose space is inert because they are small compact and light and they are built for travelling right some of us are here to stay having travelled along the way and now too old to move around a permanent campground we have found as we like living in our RV even though it may not be the type that moves along at pace instead a permanent rig in place where we will spend the rest of our years living here along with our peers.
I awoke without knowing what time it was after yesterday’s fiasco of losing my phone as I had left it charging in the other room. At least this time, I knew where it was. I had to get up for the call of Nature and checked on the time while I was at it and saw that it was about 8:15 am. I decided that I should get up even though we have nothing planned for the day.
I put some clothes on after the usual shave and shampoo and harnessed up the dogs for their first walk about and ran into Daniel who was working on the girls RV. I stopped to chat, and he said that it was time for coffee in the Breakroom. I put the dogs away in the RV and wandered over for that coffee. Delores was already there, and we spent time chatting to her before we got a message from Peggy to go over for breakfast.
We did not need a second invitation and we both made our way to their RV and then for the next 30 minutes or so sat chatting and eating breakfast tacos and drinking more coffee. Delores had other business, or she would have been with us. Eventually, Daniel left to go about his business, and I sat and chatted to the girls for at least another half hour before heading back to the RV.
I glanced out of the window and saw Kerry walking up the road and went out to say hello to her as she and Chris had just pulled back in after taking a trip up North. They are only staying a couple of weeks and then plan on taking off again.
It had come on to a light rain as I headed back to the RV where I made a fuss of the dogs and then settled down to catch up with the blog which was easy as nothing much had happened. I suppose that waking up is an event, but I am not sure if it is worth reporting. After all, if I was not awake, I could not write.
We went out walking again which is what we do if I have nothing going on and am bored with being indoors. I take it out on the dogs by making them walk but I don’t think they mind too much. Usually, the high points of any of our walks is (1) the dogs get exercise, (2) the dogs both “poop”, (3) Sandy walks in a straight line, yeah, right (4) Mikey stops tangling me up in the leash and we walk 2 miles????? I try to get 2 miles of exercise a day but in truth, anything over a mile is good. On my own, I could easily walk 2-3 miles, but the dogs really slow me down plus we do not make any speed as it is all sniff and go.
We finished the walk and shut up shop for the day. Now that it gets dark so much earlier, we are back in the RV usually by 5:30 pm and preparing for the rest of the evening with food, drink, and television.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Saturday 11/11/2023
I awoke early while it was still dark outside because I was cold. I fished out another quilt and covered us up as it was way too early to think about getting up especially for me. I knew what the problem was as it has happened before. The gas bottle had run out and so the heater was not working, and the RV was like an ice box. Me and the dogs snuggled under the covers and warmed each other up until I got up and put on my track suit to go outside and switch over the bottles. I always have a spare one filled for just such occasions as there is no way of knowing when a bottle will run out. It is not a big job to change them, and I am still able to manhandle them into position. Incidentally, the gauges that I bought register two things, full and then empty with nothing in between.
I thought about crawling back under the covers and finding me a warm dog to cuddle while the place warmed up but, in the end, I got up ready to face the day. I had to be up early anyway as I had arranged with Daniel that we would drive into town.
We went out walking and just wandered around for a bit, enough for the dogs to do their thing. Then it was back to The Caboose to feed them and get ready to go with Daniel. Even before I was ready, he was at my door in Malinda’s truck waiting patiently for me.
We drove to a place called Don’s OH in Oak Hill where we ordered breakfast. Daniel ordered the Barbacoa Plate and I ordered Huevos Rancheros. As usual, there was more food than I could eat but not enough for a To Go box. Then it was back in the truck to the nearest shopping center where we visited a couple of outdoor type stores. I bought a new cap in one of them as my old one is so sweat stained it looks pretty disgusting. Daniel bought a whole bunch of hunting gear as I guess he is planning a trip.
We drove back and this time, I got Daniel to drive past my old house so I could show it to him. It was on our way home anyway so no biggie. We took the back way to Dripping Springs and eventually Henly just for a change where we parted company. It was a fun morning, and I was very pleased that Daniel had asked me to go with him.
Back at The Caboose, I filled the bird feeders and had just enough seed to do it before I ran out. I must put bird seed on my next shopping trip. With the feeders taken care of, I checked the gas bottles and made sure that in my sleepy state I had tightened the valve properly. Then, it was back inside the RV which had now warmed up very nicely to work on the blog.
It was a dull and gloomy day, the sort that just shouted out loud to not go outside. I had no reason to other than to take care of the gas bottle.
The rest of the day was spent on chores, walking dogs, TV, and food and drink.
I got up a little earlier than I normally do to a cloudy and rainy day although it was not raining too hard, and we harnessed up to go out walking. For some reason, I forgot my phone and did not think anything of it until after we had finished the walk and were back inside of The Caboose when I started looking for it. I searched high and low and could not find the darn thing anywhere.
Then I started to get a little worried and searched The Caboose a second time to find the damn thing. Greg had stopped by, and I told him the problem and he said he would keep a lookout. I emailed the group, so the word was out to “Find Frank’s phone”.
I retraced my steps in the RV and was in the bedroom and happened to look to where the alarm clock sits and noticed an electric cord which I traced back to the outlet and on the other end was the bloody phone. This was a totally new spot to charge the phone and not very visible which is why I did not remember that it was there. Talk about losing it and I’m not talking about the phone but my memory. I quickly let everyone know it had been found. I did get extra exercise out of it having to retrace my morning walk. Incidentally, the dogs did not get to go with me the second time or I would still be out there.
With that scare put to bed, I worked on the blog to bring us up to date. On such a rainy and miserable day, I don’t think we will do much outdoors. Indoors it is warm and cozy with the heater kicking on as needed.
I sat around for some of the afternoon not doing much of anything. Well, that is not entirely true as I worked on the computer trying to figure out why I was able to work on pictures and such on the old one and cannot figure out how to do it on the new one. Very frustrating.
It started to rain much harder than before and we still had not gone out for the evening walk. So, I dug up an umbrella and put my jacket on and out we went. We only walked as far as the mailbox before turning around and heading back to the RV and getting inside as quickly as we could, the dogs were wet, but they stood still for me to towel them off.
The rest of the evening was spent in the usual fashion of food and Television.
I looked out of the window and saw that Daniel, Gary and Greg were sitting by the Breakroom but by the time I had finished taking a shower and throwing on some clothes, they were gone. We went out walking anyway after bringing out the bird feeders and managed to cover 1.2 miles on that first walk of the day.
Both dogs are so busy checking things out and as we usually cover the same trails that other dogs have already walked; we do not make any time. In fact, we are downright slow. Still, it doesn’t matter as usually, we have nowhere to go that demands our attention or that we need to be in a hurry for.
Back inside the RV, I fed both dogs and then myself and made coffee for me. I had a few chores to do which I quickly took care of before turning my attention to the blog. Mikey is a firm believer that he needs to help with the blog writing so consequently, he tries to sit on my lap while I am working which does make it a bit more difficult, Still, he is such a lovable little guy, I can’t resist his needs and sometimes, I type one handed while the other is stroking him. It doesn’t slow my typing down using one hand as I am not a fast typist anyway.
Sandy, on the other hand, lays on the bed until I bring her food in to her. It is always touch and go to see if she will finish the bowl or will pick out the best parts and leave the rest. As her morning pill is mixed in with the food, it is important that she licks the bowl clean.
With the food and drink out of the way for the morning, I turned my attention to the blog with the usual struggle in trying to remember things that we did and are worth writing about.
Most days are pretty much the same unless a trip to the supermarket is included after any household chores that need doing like maybe a load of laundry or making the bed and that sort of thing, I turn my attention to first perusing the mail just in case there is something that I need to look at. Usually, there is nothing for me to worry about and then I turn to the blog. I sit and think really hard about what occurred during yesterday and can usually drag it from the depths of my memories after much thought.
I wrote for a while and caught up and decided to go into town on a shopping run. I had a list as I have been known to completely forget the most important thing on the list, whatever it may be.
The first stop was the Home Depot as I needed the sticky pads to place under the corners of the mats to keep them in place. The three mats I have in the main living area are no longer staying even with the sticky pads on the back. It was my fault as after I had the mats in place the first time around, the dogs in their energetic wrestling matches managed to move them and they are no longer stuck or even sticky.
I found what I wanted and then moved on to HEB located almost right next door. This time, I did have a list as I cannot trust my brain to remember what it is I came in for. Most of it was the usual stuff I routinely buy but every now and then, something different will catch my eye and it sneaks into my basket.
The one constant when I go grocery shopping is to buy beer for the group. As I have said many times before, I can’t cook worth a damn so my contribution is to supply the beer usually in the form of a case of 24, I have very strict instructions on what brand and type I have to buy and if I get it wrong, get severely chastised almost to the point of having to take it back or worse yet, made to drink it can after can until either I am drunk, passed out or both.
Just kidding as none of the beer is wasted and regardless of the brand, is always consumed. While I was at it, I bought a couple of the small 4 pack of wines plus two large bottles for my own personal consumption.
My first stop when I reached home was at Daniel and Malinda’s RV to drop off the group beer and was told to come over to drink one. I unloaded the Jeep (what a nice thing to say) and put the groceries away. Then we harnessed up and went out walking the park and by the time we were through, we had covered 2.5 miles for the day. Love walking those supermarkets…
We finished up drinking a beer or three over at Daniel’s and Malinda’s RV. Delores was there, and we just sat and chatted until it started to get dark and then Delores and I both left together as we both had to go in the same direction, saying “Goodnight” to each other, I went inside and shut up shop for another day.
The day ended in the usual fashion of food for both me and the dogs and then watching the usual television,
I have given up worrying about what time I get up in the mornings. Most of the time, it doesn’t matter as I have nothing planned. On the days when I do have something going on, I set an alarm to make sure I wake up early enough, whatever time that may be. Regardless of the time I am out and about, Daniel, who is an early riser and Gary, another one of that particular group, always give me a hard time.
The way I see it, after a lifetime of waking up early to please “the man”, I am entitled to sleep in now that I can.
We went out for a walk, and I forgot to bring out the bird feeders before we left and had to do that upon our return. The dogs just watched, not very interested in what I was doing as they had seen it many times before. Besides, it was nothing they could eat or bark at.
I fixed breakfast all around and coffee for me. It seems the only thing I find enjoyable for breakfast is a Bean Burrito. Nothing else is very appetizing. Another drawback from getting old, I guess. Sandy cleaned up her bowl, but Mikey did not eat his. He does not seem to be a breakfast dog even if breakfast is served around noon time.
I read the morning news, and it was all about Trump who is not my favorite person. Then I turned my attention to answering, or at least reading, emails. None of them were earth shattering and none required anything from me except to push the delete button. That is the trouble with emails, if you don’t read them, there may be something important mixed in there somewhere.
It is hard to imagine that somewhere out there is a person or persons whose main job in life is to write annoying and/or useless emails to others to swindle them out of some money. Even the sites that I do contribute to, which, by the way, are all animal or conservation sites, get to be a bit much with some of the things they post. This is the world we live in where one half is trying to convince people they need this, whatever “this” is.
I liked it best when I was a kid growing up in England and to us, television was a modern marvel, and the only phones were clunky desktop or wall hung models. Cell phones and emails were not yet invented. Heck, most homes did not even have a phone and a TV was a luxury. Those were the good old days when life was so much simpler than it is now.
As I can’t do anything about the way the world is changing and as I probably only have a couple more years to worry about it, if I am lucky, I won’t.
I went online to make a reservation to go to my local DPS office to renew my Driver’s License and the soonest I can get in is not for almost 4 months on the 14th of February. Now, that is Valentines Day, so I hope the office staff show me some love.
Discouraged by the news, I looked for other things to do but could not find anything to cheer me up. So, instead, we went out walking and started going down the hill from the campsite. After a bit Miss Sandy decided that she did not want to go down and instead, reversed direction and took us back up towards the campground.
We stopped by our friends, Larry and Crystal, who made a fuss of the dogs as they usually do. Sandy got her share and more of the treats and Mikey settled for just one that he ate.
We continued our walk and headed for the Mailbox just in case we had mail, which we did not as it happened. From there, it was the short walk home back to The Caboose where we sat outside until it was dark, listening to an Audiobook and watching my small world go by.
I had noticed that the grey tank was getting full as the water was not draining out of the bathroom sink and my first chore of the day was to empty the tanks. It is not that it is an unpleasant job as all I do is open a couple of valves. When the tanks are empty, indicated by nothing flowing out, the valves are closed. This is especially important on the black tank which, for you uninitiated needs to be closed to keep the liquid in the tank because if it drains out, it leaves the solids behind which are difficult to move without connecting a hose pipe to backflush the solids out. By keeping the valve closed and keeping the liquid, the solids break down and flush out with the other liquid. Everything is enclosed and there is no real fear of a flood. A couple of my connections are of clear plastic so I can see what is going on during the flush.
Incidentally, back when I first started RV’ing and did not know what I was doing, I inadvertently left a faucet running which apart from wasting water, is no big deal in a house. In an RV, there is only limited space to store fluids in any of the tanks and if attention is not paid to the levels, it is possible for the toilet, or shower to overflow through the backed-up drains. The first mistake I realized was to see a steady stream of water flowing through the RV and out of the door.
I was lucky that time and nothing was damaged, but I have heard horror stories of people having to have new floors installed and other damaged items replaced.
We harnessed up and went out walking Just wandering around wherever Miss Sandy decided she wanted to go. Me and Mikey, like the obedient servants that we are just meekly following along behind. The only time I interfere is to get her to go in the general direction that we need to go or if a car comes past and such.
I always keep one eye on the ground close to the dogs when they choose to walk in the grass, just in case. Today, we saw the biggest centipede or maybe it was a millipede as I do not know the difference. I do know that this thing was at least 6 inches long. It was crossing the road and we made sure that it reached the other side safely. I also made sure that the dogs did not get too close with their curiosity.
Back in the RV, I fixed us breakfast and coffee for me. Then, I caught up with the blog which was a couple of days behind. I had the hardest time recalling things that had happened that long ago. My memory is definitely getting worse, and it will not be long before I will need to carry a notebook and take notes as the day progresses. Maybe a tape recorder would be better. Something to remind me and keep my thoughts in order.
I worked on the blog posting a couple and organizing the rest, so they were in some sort of order. This took a while before I was satisfied that things were hunky-dory. Now I am extended a week ahead which gives me a little leeway although, if I do not stay caught up, then the chances of recalling anything of interest that may have happened is null and void.
We sat around while I worked on the blog. I needed to work on the different postings and bring them up to date. It took a while as for some reason, things were out of order, but I eventually got everything straightened out.
We went out for another walk and ran into Daniel who asked me to walk with him to the Girl’s RV where there was a water leak. It was just a very slow drip but does need to work. I think he just needed company which I was more than happy to supply.
Finally, I continued with our walk around the park and then adjourned back to The Caboose for the evening meal and to watch whatever I could find on the TV.
I live in an RV park it started off as just a lark buy a camper and stay the night at an RV Camper site travel around from here to there driving along with hardly a care call ahead to reserve a spot so you have your own little lot only good until you move on as the open road becomes your song and staying at an RV park only applies when it gets dark some parks are better than the rest and offer more and not in jest swimming pools and shady spots even a store for what you forgot a bathroom shower to clean the dirt for the rigs whose space is inert because they are small compact and light and they are built for travelling right some of us are here to stay having travelled along the way and now too old to move around a permanent campground we have found as we like living in our RV even though it may not be the type that moves from place to place instead a permanent rig in place where we will spend the rest of our years living along here with our peers.
I awoke totally frustrated with my wasted experience of the day before when I had tried to renew my Driver’s License. Putting it behind me as just another bad experience, I harnessed up the dogs and we went walk about around the park. We got to meet and sometimes greet other dogs depending on doggy attitudes as usually, the dog owners are more than willing to stop and chat.
I brought out the bird feeders and we adjourned back inside for breakfast and, that all important, coffee before deciding what we should do for the rest of the day. I had nothing planned and none of the Offices that I needed to visit were open this being a Saturday and all.
I had a few of the regular household chores that needed doing such as throwing in a load of laundry which did its thing as I worked on other things like catching up with the blog.
I also sat around a lot and several times, caught myself dozing off. Each time, I would shake myself awake only for it to happen again 15 minutes later. To get over the sleepy feeling, we went out walking again.
I had not been back too long and was sitting on the deck when Daniel whistled at me. I wandered over with the dogs to find that girls were already there, and later Gary joined us. We sat there drinking beer and spinning yarns. It was almost dark when I wandered back to my RV and brought in the bird feeders and shut up shop for the night.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Sunday 11/05/2023
I got up at what I thought was late only then to remember that the clocks had changed last evening from Summertime to regular time. Instead of it being 9:00 am, it was only 8:00 and I was up early.
We harnessed up and we walked around the park and managed to walk a mile before breakfast. I had a few chores to do as is usual for our lifestyle but some of it was make work to stay busy.
As I usually do, I combine eating breakfast with working on the blog so consequently, breakfast is something simple and easy to prepare. Often, it is a Burrito which only needs to be warmed up and depending on the type, can be very flavorful.
With the blog all caught up, I looked around for other things to do and managed to find a couple of items that needed work.
I had already received an invitation to join Daniel and Malinda, which I did by wandering over to their RV. We sat and drank a couple of beers while Daniel had his outside grille going cooking up the meat for the evening’s entertainment. The girls joined us, bringing their contribution to the meal as they always do.
When Daniel declared the meat cooked, we all wandered over to the Commons where we were joined by Delores and Gary. We feasted on the meat that Daniel had cooked along with a whole bunch of side dishes, and it was delicious.
Incidentally, Mikey and Sandy both benefitted as they had the pieces of fat and such that we did not eat which I mixed in with their food when I eventually fed them.
It was a fun get-together and an evening well spent with good food, good drink, and even better company.
I got up early enough to turn on the water heater switch so that I could take a shower and while it was warming up, opened the blinds to let the sun in to help warm the place and did a couple of other things. Ten minutes later, the water was hot, and I luxuriated in the warmth of the shower. I toweled off and found myself clean clothes and dressed ready to face another day. The first thing was to bring out the bird feeders that I had remembered to bring in last evening before harnessing up my two little friends ready for that first walk. For some reason, I kept thinking that it was Saturday, but a quick check of my phone put that right.
I had on a light jacket although it was not cold out but just cool enough to warrant it especially when a breeze blew in. We did not walk far and just circled the park as my hip was sore and acting up. Darn thing, I wish it would get better.
I noticed that the house heaters were not coming on and went outside to change the gas bottles. In this case, all I did was switch bottles and will change them out later. With the heater working, the RV quickly warmed up and I fixed breakfast and coffee and fed the dogs.
The next thing was to check emails, most of which were the usual junk and trashed. The few that needed my attention were quickly dealt with. I went outside and changed out the empty gas bottle for the full one that I try to always keep on hand. Daniel is exceptionally good at refilling empty gas bottles although he tries to wait so that there are several that need filling around the campground and not just one or maybe two. Incidentally, that is one of the few things that I can help him with, refilling gas bottles.
He has a special license certifying him to do this task and technically, no one that is not licensed should do it. Obviously, this is to prevent any accidents as an untrained person could very quickly cause one with disastrous results. My role is to unload the empty bottles and then reload the full ones onto his four-wheeler for delivery.
Then when we get to each delivery site, I grab the appropriate bottle and Daniel either hooks them up, depending on the client or stands them alongside the RV. Closest thing to a workout that I do nowadays.
The day went by as it always does, and I decided to drive into town to try to renew my driver’s license for the next couple of years. I located the DPS Office and stood in line for a while. When I reached the window, the lady clerk was annoyed at me because I did not register for a place in line when I got there but dealt with me anyway even though I could tell she was angry. On top of that, when I told her about my business, she told me that this office does not issue driver’s license and I need to go into Austin to get it done.
What she did not tell me was that I needed an appointment and to call ahead to make one, which of course, I did not do. I made the 25 odd mile drive into the DPS Office and walked up to the door, The first thing I saw in letters at least 4 ft high (just kidding) on the door was that I needed an appointment, which I did not have. Plus, on top of that there were many people waiting in line which stretched outside the office.
I thought about it and decided that I would make the 20-mile drive into Bastrop where I had renewed my driver’s license a couple of years ago and at that time, without any trouble. The drive was uneventful, and I located the DPS Office without any problems having been there before only to discover the same sign on the door, “Appointment Only.” They too were very crowded so I knew there would not be any walk-ins. Cursing under my breath, I made the almost 65-mile drive back to Henly frustrated with all my wasted efforts. What a totally wasted day.
The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way although, when I sat down to watch the TV, I immediately dozed off and did not re-awaken until the movie was over. At that point, I went to bed.
Another month has flown by and now we are in November. Like I say every month, I have no idea where the time goes but it sure flies by fast.
Our first walk was uneventful, and we just wandered around. It was cold outside with a definite chill in the air, a reminder that we are now in winter. It has come a bit early this year and I hope it is not a sign of a very cold and hard one as I dislike wintry weather. The ten years I spent in New York State has put me off freezing weather forever.
Of course, there is no comparison between New York and Texas winters. You can guarantee that New York will have cold freezing weather and lots of snow every year whereas here in Texas, we might get a couple of weeks of wintry weather and even snow at the same time, but nothing lasts very long at least in my part of the State.
I had just returned from the walk and Daniel stopped by and told me it was coffee time in the Breakroom. I wandered over after putting the dogs back in the RV and we sat there chatting and drinking coffee when one of the owners, Sarah, stopped by to talk to Daniel. They talked business for a while and then she left.
That was our cue to go on a gas run around the park, picking up the empties that needed refilling. I do not do much on these trips and truthfully, I think Daniel just needs company which I am more than willing to share. My part is to jump off the 4-wheeler, open the tailgates, and lift empty bottles back onto the rig.
When we had all the empties that tenants had put out for refill, we drove back to the Propane Gas Station and there, I lifted the filled bottles back onto the 4-wheeler. Then with them all re-filled, we made a run back around the park dropping them off at the individual campsites. In a couple of cases, due to circumstances known only to Daniel, he hooks the tanks back up to the unit. In others, the full tanks are just set beside the rig. This usually happens when the rig owner has a third bottle as a spare and the other two are not empty.
With the gas run finished for another couple of days, Daniel no longer needed my help, what little I could give that is and I walked back to the RV. I made a big fuss of the dogs and got a lot back in return and even though it was now around mid-day, fixed myself another coffee and breakfast. The dogs helped me to eat the sandwich and then I settled down in front of the computer to work on the blog.
I was looking out the window at the birds as they worked the big feeders close to the deck and noticed that they hardly spent any time on them. I went out to look and discovered that the rain had rotted the layer of seed that had gotten wet. I spent time cleaning out this mess so that new clean seeds would flow. I must remember to bring in these seed containers when it rains. They are the type that have big flat bottom trays and the seed flows out of the main holder onto the tray.
I looked around for other things to get up to and found a few things that needed my attention. I took care of them and then sat on the couch with the dogs listening to an Audiobook. That was after we had tried sitting outside but it was too cool for comfort, and we adjourned inside. The next thing I knew was waking up with it being almost dark outside,
I quickly harnessed up the dogs and we went out for a quick walkabout around the park before returning to The Caboose where I sat down in front of the computer to play catch up with today, Then I remembered that I had not brought in the bird feeders and did that before the deer got after them. This time, when I closed the door, I hoped it would be the last time for today,
All that was left was the usual evening meal and feed the dogs followed by watching Television.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Friday 11/03/202
I got up early as the gentleman from the motor repair shop said that he was going to call me. As it turns out, he never did, and I ended up calling him back.
First though, we went out for a walk around the park. The wind was cold, and I was glad of the light jacket I had put on. The dogs rushed around smelling this and checking out that and had a fine old time and the cold never bothered them one little bit.
I fed the dogs but somehow in the anticipation of getting the Jeep back, I forgot to make breakfast and even coffee for myself. I told the dogs “Goodbye,” headed out of the door, and drove to Nutty Brown where both the car rental and the repair shop are located, a distance of about 20 miles.
First stop was to turn back in the Rental car after I had filled it with gas at the HEB store. Luckily for me, the rental place was not busy, and we quickly completed our business. Then I walked about 50 yards to the Body Shop next door and passed the Jeep standing out on the driveway.
With business quickly taken care of and paying my $1000.00 deductible, I jumped back into the Jeep, and it felt like an old friend welcoming me back. I still must get new numberplates as I was unable to find my front one after the collision with the deer.
The drive back to HEB was great and I was incredibly pleased to be back in my own car. In HEB, I wandered around the store and bought a cartful of stuff that I thought I needed before heading out of the door. I considered buying a Latte but decided against it instead opting to drive back to Henly.
The first thing was to bring in the groceries helped by the dogs and then to put them away. Then we harnessed up and wandered around for a bit running into Gary who we stopped to chat with. We only took a short walk this time before returning to The Caboose.
I wrote the blog and worked on some other stuff, and we went out for the final walk of the day. While we were walking, it occurred to me that I had not had a coffee or anything to eat all day. So, when we got back to the Caboose, I made myself the evening meal and drank a glass of wine instead, So what???
I spent the rest of the evening watching television before going to bed around 11:00 pm.
Another month has flown by and now we are in November. Like I say every month, I have no idea where the time goes but it sure flies by fast.
Our first walk was uneventful, and we just wandered around. It was cold outside with a definite chill in the air, a reminder that we are now in winter. It has come a bit early this year and I hope it is not a sign of a very cold and hard one as I dislike cold weather. The ten years I spent in New York State has put me off cold weather forever.
Of course, there is no comparison between New York and Texas winters. You can guarantee that New York will have cold freezing weather and lots of snow every year whereas here in Texas, we might get a couple of weeks of cold weather and maybe even snow at the same time, but nothing lasts very long at least in my part of the State.
I don’t do much on these trips and truthfully, I think Daniel just needs the company which I am more than willing to share. I jump off the 4-wheeler and open the tailgates and lift empty bottles back onto the rig.
Find the deer in the trees. They are to the right of the picture.
While I was dozing but not asleep. I had been thinking of the things I needed to do when I eventually got up. One of them was to call the repair shop where the Jeep is to confirm that it will be ready on Thursday. Depending on their response, they will decide how much longer I need to keep the rental car. Before I was able to make that call, I got a text message from them telling me that they were on schedule. So, based on that message, I went ahead with the rental car for four more days.
It has been a very expensive crash for both the deer who died and me as the cost of the repair has now risen to just over $10,000 of which, my insurance company is only paying around $8.000. That does not include the cost of the rental, which is now around $1600.00. Big sigh…
I finally got up with all these thoughts running through my mind and prepared for the day ahead. It had rained in the night, and everything was wet with more rain in the forecast. It was also very cold with the temperature hovering around 38 degrees. Still, the dogs had to walk, and they were ready to go, which left me no alternative but to brave it all and get out there walking.
We did a couple of circuits of the park which was enough for them to do their business but was not very far distance wise before returning to the RV for breakfast which, incidentally, both dogs ate. I found something for myself which was unappetizing, and the dogs ate half of it. I guess it suited their palate. My coffee tasted good though.
Then Daniel pulled up on his 4-wheeler and said he could use some help. I put on my boots and two jackets as it had really cooled off and we went out and about, filling gas bottles and working in the Well House. Well. Daniel worked and as I had no clue what he was doing, my role was to fetch and carry and hand him the occasional tool or part.
Time flew by and before I knew it, it was almost 4:00 pm. By this time, we had worked our way to the Club house and was drinking coffee. Both Gary and Malinda joined us as we headed out on one more adventure and between us, we accomplished a couple more things before adjourning to the Break Room for yet another coffee break.
Eventually, I left the group and headed back to The Caboose where I harnessed up the dogs for the last walk about of the day before heading back to The Caboose for the evening. It started to rain again at the end of our walk, and I very happily adjourned back inside for the usual evening’s meal and entertainment.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Tuesday 10/31/2023
I got up early to use the bathroom and noticed that it was cold inside the RV. I guessed that probably one of the gas bottles had run out, obviously the one hooked up to the unit. I went back under the covers and snuggled with Mikey who had also crawled under there as well. Sandy was still on top of the bed, but I had dragged the covers up over her and she seemed content to lay there all snuggled up.
I got up and rapidly put clothes on to ward off the chill and put up the blinds to let in the sunlight to help warm the place. Then I went outside and changed gas bottles. The heat immediately came on and the temperature slowly began to rise inside of the RV.
I found my tracksuit and put it on, and we went out for the morning walk. This time, we wandered around and then walked the Loop towards Hwy 290. The dogs were all fired up with the brisk temperature and we managed to cover 1.1 miles before returning to The Caboose for breakfast.
I spent some time working on the blog and bringing it up to date. We have nothing planned for today, but we are going out to eat to celebrate Daniels birthday later this evening. I messed around with both of my computers trying to get the old one to open to show me what program I used to work on the pictures. So far, not much luck.
I gave up on the computers as a bad job as I was getting frustrated that I could not make them work the way I wanted them to and looked around for something else to do. .
We went out for another walk as it was getting close to the time when the girls were going to pick me up. We had a good day walking and managed to cover 2.6 miles.
Around 5:15 pm, the girls stopped by the RV, and I jumped into the car with them. This time, we were going to a Chinese place named Simply Pho. It will make a change from the Mexican food we normally eat.
There were three of us in the car, the girls and me with BJ the driver, as usual. Why not as that is what she does for a living anyway as a School Bus Driver. She knew where we were going and found the place without any trouble. We were the last ones to arrive as Daniel, Malinda and Gary had arrived in one car. Jeff and xxx in another, we came in BJ’s car and Delores drove herself.
The food was excellent, and I managed to eat the entire plateful which is the first time I have managed that for a while. Others were bringing home Doggie bags just as I usually do but I had made a good decision on which dish to get and cleaned it all up.
The drive home was uneventful, and we arrived back safe and sound, in my case to be met by a couple of excited little dogs. We adjourned indoors for the evening and as the television was playing up, went to bed around 9:30 pm. Just as well as I was tired and had an uneventful and good night’s sleep.
It was almost 10:00 am before I even woke up. I have no idea why I slept so late as I had a good night’s sleep. Maybe, too good but we have nothing planned. It was sunny when we first woke up and crawled out of bed but clouded over as the day wore on.
The first thing was the bird feeders and then walkies. We wandered around the park and covered almost a mile. My hip was feeling much better which helped a lot with how far to walk. It was definitely much cooler out, shades of things to come in the next few days? I have taken down the Hummingbird feeders as they have flown off to follow the sun and will not be back until the Spring. Amazing to think of those tiny birds flying nonstop to Mexico or over the oceans.
I sat around and worked on the blog and heard a knock on the door. Looking up, I saw Peggy standing there with a bowl of her own Blueberry Delight that was steaming hot. She did not stay and hurried, and I mean that quite literally, back to her RV. I sat and enjoyed the desert, and it was delicious. Must remember the name, Peggy’s Blueberry Delight.
I had to put on the heat plus the electric fireplace as it was getting cold inside of The Caboose. My thermostat said it was 70 degrees indoors. It is supposed to get down to almost freezing outside for the next couple of days and nights. We will be fine just as long as we have electricity.
Sandy was being a bug which generally means “I gotta go Dad”. I harnessed them up and we went out walking the outside road towards Hwy 290. We saw a half dozen or so deer in the exotic park who immediately took off as we approached. We did not walk the full length of the lane but headed back after about halfway. It had turned a lot colder, and I was glad of my jacket. Altogether, we walked 1.5 miles for the day.
When we got back, I brought in the bird feeders as there had not been very many birds all afternoon. The weather was already turning much colder as the front blew in and it looked like rain. We adjourned back inside where it was nice and warm for the usual evening’s food and entertainment.
I awoke late again, and it was almost 9:30 am when I rolled out of bed. I went through the motions of getting ready to face the day and brought out the bird feeders as it was not raining nor any rain in the immediate forecast. What was a little troublesome was the forecast for a really cold front to come through in the next couple of days with the overnight lows down to 35 degrees. Only in Texas can it be in the 80’s during the day and almost freezing at night.
Last winter, we had some snow and frost but nothing too serious and it had come and gone in two weeks and that was the sum extent of our winter. If we do not lose electricity, we will be OK but if we do, many of the RV’s are equipped with their own generator either built-in or of a moveable type. I do not have one for The Caboose and it is on my list of things to buy. If the winter is not severe or we do not lose electricity, then we will not need a generator of our own but that is a lot of ifs. Better to be on the safe side.
Following our walk which incidentally was not very long as my Glute muscle in my left hip is really playing up. I treated it with Ben Gay, a muscle relaxer and it has helped a bit. Thank goodness I bought the walking stick as it helps a lot.
I messed around with the phones in an attempt to get them to talk to each other but with no luck. On my old computer, I was able to work on photos and then add a signature, but I have not been able to reproduce that on the new computer. I dislike change and having to learn new things, which is why I am reluctant to make any with computers and such. I used to apply the same logic when I was dating women and look where that got me.
Late in the afternoon, we went out walking the Park and met a couple of others doing the same thing. Depending on the dog or dogs, sometimes we stop and talk, and the dogs go through the motions of buddying up. Other times, we wave and move on as the dogs bark at each other from a distance.
The rest of the day was spent lazing around and then eventually watching a Premier League game and then finally, the last episode of Yellowstone at least until the new version comes out. Even then, it was midnight before we crawled under the covers.
I had another of those mornings when I slept late. Not just lying in bed snoozing but actually sleeping and waking up around 9:30 am. Maybe, I should be worried that I sleep late but as we have nothing planned, to hell with it. It had already rained very heavily and was still raining lightly when we went out for the first walk. We only went as far as the dumpster and completed the circle around the Commons area before returning to the RV.
The forecast is for it to rain off and on all day. We desperately need the rain as most of the lakes, ponds and even the smaller rivers have dried up.
I had a couple of household chores that I needed to do and then settled down to the usual breakfast and coffee. Again, I cannot get Sandy to eat her medication which is mixed up in her food. I have tried all different kinds of things to mix but she just eats what she likes and ignores the rest which includes the crushed-up pill. Stupid dog. Doesn’t she know that we are trying to extend her life and manage her heart problem. It is so frustrating. Incidentally, if Mikey has a heart problem, he gets free medication as he eats her food when I am not looking after she has abandoned it.
I caught up on the blog which was not hard to do as nothing much has happened yet and then took the dogs out for a short walk in between the rain showers. Then, after toweling them off to a somewhat dryer state, I decided that I should go to HEB for groceries and the inevitable beer.
I jumped in the rental car and made the trip into town. I thought that I needed something from Home Depot, but I could not for the life of me, remember what it was. Instead, I went to the HEB which is located right next door. I had a list but of course added a few extras as I wandered around. When I reached the beer section, I loaded two 24 packs onto my cart, my share of the entertainment goodies. For myself, it was a couple of four packs of the very small wine plus one full size bottle to add to my collection.
The drive home was uneventful which is the way I like it. As usual, I had a lot of help putting the groceries away with noses thrust into bags to get the good smells but despite the “help”. I managed to put everything away. Then it was walkies time and we wandered around the park. It had left off raining and the sun was trying to shine as we ambled around.
When we got back, we sat outside for a bit watching the world go by and then I heard a shout from the direction of The Girls RV. Looking up, I saw Peggy waving at me and beckoning me to come on over which I did as I always obey the directions given me by pretty ladies. Heck, you never know, and I might get lucky and find a beer at the end of the wave. That is the best I can hope for as I am too bloody old for anything else except memories.
I hadn’t been at the girls RV for 5 minutes and Malinda, Daniel and Remington showed up and the party really started. The girls had run out of beer, and I had brought a six pack with me and when Malinda arrived, Daniel was carrying a couple more six packs and so the party started,
The girls had been experimenting and had cooked something else that looked like a pizza but had different ingredients. Then when it was finished, they brought out a real pizza which we all pigged out on. Me, I managed to eat some of each, but I do not have the capacity to eat a large amount of food, which is probably a good thing.
The liquor was safely locked up inside of the Girls RV and we made do with beer. I only had a couple of cans and remained sober for a change. When it was time, I walked myself back to The Caboose and spent the rest of the evening watching a Premier League game and then more episodes of Yellowstone.
It rained heavily in the night but after hearing the initial downfall, I fell back off to sleep waking up only for the call of Nature. I must have been tired as when I finally awoke to actually get up, it was almost 9:30 am. It doesn’t matter as we have no plans for the day.
We went out for the first walk and managed to get wet as it rained while we were out. The dogs did not seem to mind except for a lot more shakes to get the water off. Needless to say, we did not cover any distance this time around.
Back in the RV, I dried the dogs off and changed my wet shirt. I also remembered to close the bedroom door to keep Sandy off the bed as she was still pretty wet even after I had toweled them both off.
I prepared the dogs their breakfast which neither of them ate. Now, I need to keep an eye on Sandy’s so that Mikey does not eat her medication. It would not hurt him but at $3.00 a pill. It hurts my pocketbook, and she doesn’t get the benefit.
It rained off and, on all day, very much restricting any outside activity we might have planned. I did not bring out the smaller bird feeders, but the birds still have the four big feeders in the trees and off the deck. I am not expecting many birds out in the rain anyway. One good thing about it raining is that I can raise all the blinds within the RV to give us more daylight. Normally, except for the big front windows, the blinds are down to help keep the RV cool. The front ones face away from the sun, and I can keep them up except at night.
RVs are notorious for not having good insulation as the walls and ceiling are only two inches thick. Usually, they have several windows which also let in the sun’s heat requiring that the blinds are pulled down during the day. Because they are constantly working, the air conditioners are subject to many repairs and/or replacement over their lifetimes.
I have two A/C units. One is for the main living area and the other is for the bedroom and they both operate independent of the other depending on the need. Incidentally, there is only one heating unit, and it supplies hot air through ducts that are under the RV with the vents in the floor. Plus, I do have an electric fireplace that does throw off some heat and is pretty to look at. I also have a couple of moveable heaters just in case I need them when it is very cold.
I sat and wrote for a while until I was caught up and then looked around for other things to do. Not finding anything of importance, I sat on the couch with a dog on either side of me. We stayed there a couple of hours sort of dozing in the comfort. Eventually, I got up and we went out for the afternoon walk. We managed to bring our daily total up to 1.3 miles, which is what we have managed for the past 3 days. Not as good as I would like but walking out in the rain is not very appealing to me or the dogs.
My hip is hurting more than ever and is slowing me down. The walking stick that I just bought is a real help and helps me get around. Following our walk, we sat on the deck and drank a couple of tiny bottles of wine. It began to get dark, and we came back inside, and I finished writing the blog for today.
The rest of the evening was spent in the usual way, food for the dogs, food for me and then watching television at whatever ungodly hour I stayed up. I have been watching Yellowstone and it has kept me glued to the TV until the early hours of the morning.
It was dark outside and raining hard when I woke up. I looked at the clock and it said 8:30 am. I got out of bed and turned on the LP Gas water heaters and then quickly got back under the covers as it would take 15 minutes for the water to heat up for a shower. Can’t wait for the electricity to be repaired and heating the water. That stays on all the time and is governed by the thermostat. The gas heaters kick on and off to maintain the water temperature at whatever I set it at and are using propane which empties the propane tank and then requires it to be refilled. At least, that is the plan just as soon as the part comes in and Daniel completes the repair.
Even after I got up, it was still raining too hard to go out walking so we changed things around and had an early (for us) breakfast. I should say that breakfast came first, and the dog walk came second in between the showers. Even then, we did not go very far because of the rain. It did eventually ease up and we walked to the dumpster and back around the Break Room building and then returned to the RV.
I found things to do, some of which I had been putting off like updating my address at several different places so that I can eventually cancel the Far West Blvd postal service. I still have a couple more to go.
It rained sporadically all day which restricted any outside activities. We went out for one more walk after spending time on the couch with a dog on each side, and all of us were snoozing. We walked past Daniel’s RV, and they were outside with Gary. They invited me to join them, and we sat and chatted while drinking a beer. Gary left and I refused the offer of another beer until I saw that both Daniel and Malinda were both drinking their second or third or whatever the number. I changed my mind and said I would have that second one.
They make me feel very comfortable around them and are fun to be with, but I am always afraid that I will outstay my welcome. So, I do a lot of second guessing. This time though, I finished my beer and then we walked back to The Caboose where the rest of the evening was spent watching a Premier League Football match and then a couple episodes of Yellowstone,
My friendly squirrel. This is the one I found dead in the yard.
It rained in the night hard enough to wake me up. I lay listening for a while until the soothing sound put me back to sleep. When I got up this morning, there were visible signs of the rain as the deck was still wet.
I harnessed up the dogs and we went out walking in the park. It was cool enough that I had put on a jacket but halfway around, had to take it off and carry it as I got too hot wearing it.
The first order of business when we got back was to call the Rental Car offices to extend the time, I was renting the car. Prior to that, I had called the car repair place to find out how long the repair was going to take and the bad news I got was it was at least until mid-November. That darn deer is costing me a small fortune for the rental car at $550.00 a week plus the $1000.00 deductible on the car insurance. That sure was an expensive deer.
I fixed breakfast and the all-important coffee as well as feeding the dogs and then settled down to play catch up with the blog. Luckily, I was only half of yesterday behind and was able to recall what happened at that time. Today was easy as basically, apart from calling the Car Rental and taking the dogs walking, nothing had happened.
I posted and caught up with the other blogs so that now, I am up to date.
Daniel stopped by and we went over to the Break Room for coffee and spent an interesting 30 minutes chatting. He sure has some funny stories to tell. He eventually went back to work, and I continued with our walkabout.
I looked around for things to do and folded the laundry I had done the day before. I also tidied up the RV and made the bed to give it some semblance of organization. It is easy to be a slob…
I sat outside for a while listening to an Audiobook and watched as my little world passed by with campers walking dogs or hurrying off to the laundry room or even just walking by themselves. Nearly everyone said” Hello” and a couple stopped to chat.
We went out for one more walk and managed to cover 1.5 miles for the day before the evening meal all around. Then it was time to watch a Premier League game and we finished by watching more of Yellowstone before going to bed at 10:00 pm. For some reason I was tired and ready to sleep and dropped off the minute my head hit the pillow.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Tuesday 10/24/2023
I slept very well even after going to bed around 10:00 pm which is early for me. It was a little after 9:00 am when I even awoke. I jumped out of bed with the intention of taking a shower but remembered that I had not switched the heat to gas and all I had was cold water. The thought of a cold-water shower turned me off, so we went without showering today. I am sure the dogs will not notice the difference especially as it is not hot outside, and I am not likely to work up a sweat.
It had been raining when we harnessed up for that first walk but had stopped by the time, I brought out the bird feeders. The deer have not touched the two hangers that hold seed cakes as they probably have not figured out, they are edible. Fine by me as it is less to take in and bring out.
It was a drizzling day, so we did not go very far. Just far enough for the dogs to do their business and then back to the RV. As it happened, it turned out to be a wet and rainy day for most of it with intermittent rain showers.
Daniel stopped by and worked on the part that controls how the water is heated. Currently, it only heats on propane gas as the part to get it to heat the water by electricity is broken. Daniel had ordered the part a couple of days ago. When he tried to install it, he discovered that he had inadvertently ordered the wrong part and went ahead and ordered the correct one which should be here tomorrow. I have hot water, but it is powered by gas and we both prefer electricity if only for the fact that all water needs is to use the switch and it is almost instantaneous. Gas takes ten minutes to heat the water plus it is a pain to get the tanks filled etc. when the propane runs out.
Daniel left to go about his other duties although with the rainy weather, it is restricted to cleaning bathrooms and such and I went about fixing breakfast and that all important coffee even by now, it was a little past noon time. Then I sat down after fixing the dogs their brunch, to work on the blog.
It was a day full of rain showers and we spent most of it indoors working on the blog and such. When I ran out of things to do, I curled up on the couch with the dogs and took a nap sort of. I did not actually go to sleep but lay there all relaxed with my eyes closed for a couple of hours.
The weather had cleared for a bit, and we went out walking and managed to cover 1.3 miles for the day. The rest of the day was spent sitting around feeding the dogs and myself and watching television.
I got up early as I knew we were planning on taking a trip to Fredericksburg just as we had six weeks ago to go to the Market there. It is a great place to visit and a lot of fun. Most of the time, we do not buy much except food and beer as we usually find a place to eat while we are there. I had time to take the dogs out walking before BJ was waiting outside my door.
I got to travel with “The Girls” who were BJ who was our driver and Peggy and Delores sitting in the front alongside of BJ, who incidentally, drives a school bus for a living. We had a caravan of three cars, Daniel was in front and the lead driver, we were second, and Debbie and Jim were bringing up the rear.
Daniel drove at 100 mph the whole way, but BJ was masterful at keeping up with him although, we lost him at the end due to traffic. We all arrived at the Fairground safely and teamed up to go in as a group and then it was sort of everyone on their own. Not intentionally but it is hard to keep a group of adults together and eventually, we were spread out all over the place. It did not matter as we just called each other and arranged to find a place to eat and listen to the music, which took another hour.
I was having problems with my hip, and it was hurting to walk. I spent my time looking for a walking pole and eventually found one that helped me get around. That made things a lot easier as not only did the pole help me to walk but it also helped with my balance.
We wandered around after eating hamburgers and eventually got back in our respective vehicles for the ride back home arriving back at Henly midafternoon. The reason we got back so early was because both Daniel and Malinda had other business that was going to take them away from the park but not before everyone ate beans that Daniel had cooked yesterday. Everyone except me that is as I was still filled with the hamburger I had eaten earlier and had not been able to finish. Heck, it had not had time to digest at all. And I like beans…
I took the dogs out walking which pleased them no end. They even got to sit with Remington and Malinda while the others were feasting on beans only, we were outside of the breakroom. Eventually, we continued with our walk around the park before returning to write in the blog.
Daniel and Malinda had another overnight trip planned and it was not long before they were driving away, in their truck. This time, Remington got to go with them. The rest of us had already dispersed to our respective RVs for the evening.
We went out for the final walk of the day before returning for food all around although I was not that hungry. I found something light to eat and of course washed it down with a small bottle of wine. I spent the evening watching Yellowstone which I consider to be a great program.
An Old Man and an RV. Henly RV Park, TX. Sunday 10/22/2023
I got up at a very reasonable hour for another bright sunny day. I harnessed up the dogs and then tied them to the picnic table while I brought out the seed feeders. I tried something different last evening and only brought in the feeders that contain seeds. The two that hold seed cakes, I left out to see if the deer would eat them. They didn’t this time so l will leave them out in the future or until the deer discover they are edible.
We went out for the first walk and managed to cover a mile, which is a good way to start the day. Incidentally, the walking stick that I bought yesterday is a good investment and really helps the hip from hurting as much. I think it straightens me up, taking the twist out of the body posture caused by the pain in the hip.
It was very quiet around the park as it was Sunday after all with the working people home. We met a couple of people being walked by their dogs but other than that, we were on our own. It had already started to warm up as the temperature keeps varying from day to day.
When we got back, I fixed us all breakfast, but Sandy had one of her moods on and did not eat what I put in front of her. I do not care if she decides not to eat but it means that she does not take her medication which I do care about.
I spent time watering the plants and left the dogs on the deck to watch. I was missing a perch from one of the feeders and searched around and found it under the picnic table and carefully slid it back into place in the holder.
After a couple of hours of being back indoors mixed with sitting outside for a bit with my eyes closed but not sleeping, I sat down to work on the blog. There was not a lot to report for today, but I had fun remembering the Fredericksburg trip. What with being the only man in a car full of three women did make it interesting and I got to hear some really funny stories.
Daniel and Malinda returned from their trip and waved at me as they pulled in and immediately started to go about their business of taking care of the park. I wrote until I was caught up and posted yesterday’s blog then decided to take the dogs out walking. I happened to walk by Daniels RV and Jeff and Kerry were there. I stopped to chat and the next thing I had a cold beer thrust into my hands. I suppose I could have said no but what is the fun in that?
We sat chatting for probably a good half hour to forty-five minutes and then Malinda suggested we go eat at the Mexican place named El Rey. Jeff took his own car and I piled into Daniels truck for the short trip into town. Actually, I think it is Malinda’s truck, but Daniel was driving.
The five of us sat and ate a very nice Mexican meal and I think that all of us brought home doggie bags there was so much food. I drank two beers to help keep my mouth cooled down from the spicy Mexican food. Any excuse but it was spicy enough that I thought I was breathing fire.
Daniel drove us home and I immediately took the dogs back out for the last walk of the day. Then, I fed the dogs when we got back after bringing in the bird feeders and settled down to watch English Premier League football. Brighton played Manchester City with Brighton losing 2-1. Solly got hurt and had to be stretchered off.
Then I watched more episodes of Yellowstone before going to bed around midnight.
